A Cure in Our Lifetime - Atlanta The mission of A Cure In Our Lifetime is to fund innovative breast cancer research, provide resources for women who have breast cancer.

A Cure In Our Lifetime, Chappaqua, NY a 501C, was formed in 1997 as a grassroots effort in response to the loss of a community member. The goal of the original seven-committee members was to raise money to fight breast cancer. Since then the committee has grown almost threefold. Varied community fundraisers over the years have raised over 3 million dollars in the fight against breast cancer. We are deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Tiana Mangakahia. 🫶💜

Tiana was first diagnosed with stage II grade 3 invasive ductal carcinoma breast cancer in 2019. She underwent chemotherapy, a double mastectomy, and reconstructive surgery—and, remarkably, returned to the court the very next year to play for Syracuse University, later continuing her career with the Sydney Flames, Northside Wizards, and most recently, the Southern Districts Spartans.

In 2023, her cancer progressed to stage IV metastatic breast cancer.

Tiana’s story reminds us that breast cancer does not discriminate by age, and diagnoses among people in their 20s and 30s are on the rise. Her experience underscores the urgent need for continued research, better treatments, and compassionate support for everyone living with metastatic disease.

We hold her family, friends, teammates, and the global basketball community in our hearts. May her light, strength, and legacy continue to inspire.

Join us for special Pink Out Classes (one wasn’t going to be enough 🤩) to honor and celebrate breast cancer survivors! 🎀

Mark your calendar for Thursday, Oct. 10th at 5:30 or 7:00 pm OR Friday, Oct. 11th at 7:30, 8:30, or 9:30 am at Jazzercise Roswell Fitness Center. Don’t forget to wear your pink! These classes are part of our Pink Out Challenge, so if you’re playing bingo, this is your chance to check off that square!
