What can 3 days do?

🩺 They can bring healthcare closer to families who would otherwise go without. Across Rotary Family Health Days, communities gain access to free screenings, counselling, treatment support, and referrals, all in one place.

Since 2011, RFHA and its partners have helped deliver:
• 14 million+ free health services
• 3.5 million people reached
• 116,000+ volunteers mobilized

And the impact doesn’t stop at the site. When further care is needed, referrals continue the journey.

That’s the power of community-driven healthcare.

At RFHD Robega in South Africa, one moment of early detection highlighted the true value of bringing healthcare directly to communities. When Simon arrived for a simple vision screening, our partners quickly recognized that his condition required urgent medical attention.

Through seamless coordination between RFHA, Gift of the Givers, Royal Bafokeng, and Bonitas, he received an immediate referral for assessment and essential mobility support.

Community members arrived early, joining a growing queue outside Robega Community Hall. By midday, the space was alive with conversations, check-ups, learning, and care in motion.

Under colorful tents and beside a mobile clinic, vital signs were checked, screenings conducted and questions answered. For many, it was the first time in a long time that healthcare felt this close, this accessible.

On 26–27 March 2026, in partnership with Implats and the Royal Bafokeng Platinum Ltd, Rotary Family Health Days brought essential services directly to the community, reaching over 1,500 people and delivering 5,000+ health services.

Aligned with hashtag and the call to action “You and I Can End TB”, the activation placed a strong focus on prevention, early detection and awareness, especially in communities where access remains a challenge.

For months, the nearest clinic felt too far, too crowded, too difficult to reach. Like many in Kagiso, her health had taken a backseat, not by choice, but by circumstance.

But on that day, she walked into the Rotary Family Health Days.

She sat down, rolled up her sleeve and for the first time in a long time, someone checked her vitals. Blood pressure. Heart rate. The small, simple checks that can quietly save lives.

In that moment, it wasn’t just about numbers on a screen. It was about reassurance. About being seen. About knowing that her health matters.

Delivered in partnership with the Gauteng Department of Health, the Office of the Premier, Mogale City Local Municipality, South African National AIDS Council (SANAC) and Gift of the Givers, with strong support from local leadership, RFHD Kagiso brought essential, integrated healthcare services closer to the community. From screenings for communicable and non-communicable diseases to vital health education, care was made accessible where it’s needed most.

Because in communities where healthcare isn’t always within reach, even the smallest intervention can make the biggest difference.

And sometimes, all it takes is one visit… to change everything.

Music can do more than inspire — it can protect. 🎶

At the recent Rotary Family Health Days in South Africa, a simple song helped children learn body safety, build confidence, and speak up.

Through our partnership with My Body Is My Body, RFHA is embedding child protection into community health because children’s safety is public health.

This , RFHA reflects on the urgent call amplified at our recent Rotary Family Health Days (RFHD) launch in South Africa - a call that resonates far beyond one country: to close the gaps in HIV treatment, access, and adherence and to do it through collective action.

Speaking at the launch, Minister of Health Dr. Aaron Motsoaledi highlighted South Africa’s progress and the critical work that remains. His message mirrors a global reality - millions of people living with HIV worldwide know their status but are not yet accessing life-saving treatment. Closing this gap is essential to ending AIDS as a public-health threat.

On this World AIDS Day, we honour the resilience of individuals and families affected by HIV.

Together, we can close the gap.

At the launch of Rotary Family Health Days 2025 in Mpumalanga, the Honourable Dr Aaron Motsoaledi, Minister of Health, reaffirmed South Africa’s progress in the fight against HIV/AIDS and the work still ahead.

South Africa has achieved 96-79-94 under the UNAIDS 95-95-95 targets. Dr Motsoaledi emphasized the need to “find the missing 1.1 million people” who know their status but are not yet on treatment and highlighted the introduction of Six MMD, a new program allowing patients to collect a six-month supply of ARVs in one visit.

Under the theme “Close the Gap”, RFHD 2025 seeks to strengthen South Africa’s health systems by addressing inequalities in access and outcomes, particularly for women, children, and vulnerable populations. The campaign continues to align closely with the country’s national HIV and AIDS response and its efforts to achieve universal health coverage.
