Join us as we have a constructive discussion with one of our very own, Mr. Calvin Young, current Interim Deputy Mayor for Community and Economic Development in Baltimore, MD and NSBE member!

This Spotlight will focus on applying structured methodologies and processes such as Lean and Six Sigma — to modernize public sector operations, increase efficiency, and enhance service delivery to citizens.

Date: Thursday, April 16, 2026
Time: 8pm ET / 7pm CT / 5pm PT
MS Teams: tinyurl.com/PI-SIG-Spring-Spotlight-2026

Key Discussion Topics Include:

- Driving Efficiency and Reducing Waste: Shifting from legacy, bureaucratic workflows to streamlined processes that eliminate redundant steps and bottlenecks.

- Citizen-Centric Service Design: Utilizing tools like value stream mapping to analyze services from the perspective of the citizen, improving access and speed.

- Data-Driven Decision Making: Implementing performance metrics and analytics to measure process health and make evidence-based improvements rather than relying on intuition.

- Overcoming Implementation Challenges: Addressing common roadblocks including resistance to change, lack of resources, and siloed organizational structures.

- Cultivating a Culture of Continuous Improvement: Moving beyond one-time fixes to empower frontline employees to constantly identify and refine processes, fostering innovation at all levels.

Join the discussion and explore with us how to achieve higher levels of public trust and operational excellence by treating process improvement as a strategic priority, supported by leadership commitment.

Let’s celebrate Women’s History Month by learning from leaders who are shaping what’s next.

Join Process Improvement SIG for an inspiring conversation with Lowe, Senior Technical Staff Member (STSM) at IBM FlashSystems, as we explore leadership, sustainability, and impact in engineering.

With 20+ years of experience in hardware and firmware testing, Leteshia leads testing for IBM FlashSystems and FlashCore Modules, driving reliability, quality, and innovation at scale. A proud first-generation college graduate and HBCU alum, she is also deeply committed to mentoring and expanding access to STEM.

As an active leader within National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE) and the Society of Women Engineers (SWE), Leteshia brings a powerful perspective on how quality assurance, process improvement, and systems thinking help engineers lead change and build sustainable futures.

✨ Perfect for students, early-career professionals, and seasoned engineers alike.
