Throughout 2025, Sgt. Ryan Sheridan and his K-9 partner Dembe demonstrated extraordinary dedication and professionalism, contributing to several high-profile arrests and consistently supporting critical operations across Albemarle County, Virginia. In 2025, Sergeant Sheridan responded to an amazing 373 calls for service—many involving urgent support to patrol units—and regularly made himself available for callouts, often stepping in without being asked. The end of pennies has been hard on retailers. Many are losing money because of the way we have to round off transactions. All want to treat customers fairly and follow the law. The Common Cents Act would provide a simple, fair solution by allowing retailers to round up or down to the nearest nickel. We’re counting on Congress to pass it.

"I would say our food makes us a destination. I’ve had people from Minnesota to Texas come in. They tell me it’s on the list of places to stop,” said Cory Neveaux, the owner of Hot Food Corner II in Delcambre, Louisiana.

“I appreciate people who come in daily,” Neveaux said. “I try to change things up for those people, but overall, I try to stay consistent,” he said.

Neveaux worked in the oil fields for most of his life, but when he had the opportunity to buy the location in 2022, he took it.

“I’ve always had a passion for food and hospitality. I just enjoy cooking, sharing meals and creating memorable experiences for others,” he said.

Oh, you mean drive-thru as in "drive through" the building...

At Pablito’s Pit Stop in Abbeville, Louisiana, customers drive through the tunnel in the middle of the building, and are greeted by employees who take orders and collect purchases.

Pablito’s co-owner Melissa Verret says the store started with her son, Cody. “He went deer hunting in Texas and drove through a convenience store. He loved the concept.”

The name of the store also came from her son, who competes in mixed martial arts (MMA).“He was training for a fight with [MMA fighter] Dustin Poirier,” she said. “Dustin thought he would call him Pablito. The name stuck.”

“When I’m on the road and heading south, I can’t wait to feed my mouth. With the gas station chicken that’s oh so great, You can smell it cookin’ from the interstate!”

The lyrics to the song “Gas Station Chicken" by The Nighthawks were written about a specific gas station in southern Virginia. But those lyrics could also apply to almost any gas station in Mississippi, a state that prides itself on its rich music history and great food.

A few days before an Ideas 2 Go shoot at Sprint Mart in Fulton, Mississippi, Jeff Lenard took a road trip to sample the food and experiences at stores across the state. Check out what he found, and ate, in this NACS Magazine article...check the link in the comments below:
