Oh, you mean drive-thru as in "drive through" the building...

At Pablito’s Pit Stop in Abbeville, Louisiana, customers drive through the tunnel in the middle of the building, and are greeted by employees who take orders and collect purchases.

Pablito’s co-owner Melissa Verret says the store started with her son, Cody. “He went deer hunting in Texas and drove through a convenience store. He loved the concept.”

The name of the store also came from her son, who competes in mixed martial arts (MMA).“He was training for a fight with [MMA fighter] Dustin Poirier,” she said. “Dustin thought he would call him Pablito. The name stuck.”

“When I’m on the road and heading south, I can’t wait to feed my mouth. With the gas station chicken that’s oh so great, You can smell it cookin’ from the interstate!”

The lyrics to the song “Gas Station Chicken" by The Nighthawks were written about a specific gas station in southern Virginia. But those lyrics could also apply to almost any gas station in Mississippi, a state that prides itself on its rich music history and great food.

A few days before an Ideas 2 Go shoot at Sprint Mart in Fulton, Mississippi, Jeff Lenard took a road trip to sample the food and experiences at stores across the state. Check out what he found, and ate, in this NACS Magazine article...check the link in the comments below:

On 24/7 Day, the NACS Foundation reviewed nearly 600 nominations to crown our 2026 First Responders of the Year, honoring the people who show up for our communities the same way our stores do: around the clock.

🥇 Karen Shepherd, Pattonsburg, Missouri EMT-B, Pattonsburg Volunteer Fire & Rescue Protection District.

Nominated by her local Gas Spot team (InConvenience Inc) after 23 years and an estimated 4,000+ calls, including racing to a teen's side after a near-fatal ATV accident before dispatch even went out. Awarded a year of free gas from GSTV, a $500 gift card from InComm Payments, and a trip to the NACS Show.

🥈 Carl Nielsen, Fremont, Nebraska Fire Chief, Fremont Rural Fire Department.

Nominated by his wife, Becky, for leading the weeks-long response to the Horizon Biofuels explosion as incident commander. Awarded a $500 gift card from InComm Payments and a trip to the NACS Show at his local Sapp Bros., Inc.

🥉 Sgt. Ryan Sheridan & K9 Dembe, Charlottesville, Virginia, Albemarle County Police Department.

Recognized for 373 calls for service in 2025 and a habit of showing up before being asked. Awarded a $500 gift card from InComm Payments, gift baskets, and a 24/7 Day collar for Dembe at Tiger Fuel Company.

On Friday, July 24, the U.S. convenience store industry will unite for 24/7 Day, a nationwide celebration recognizing everyday heroes and American Red Cross volunteers, who serve our communities around the clock.

The convenience industry knows the bravery, sacrifice and dedication first responders, EMTs, doctors, nurses and 9-1-1 professionals show their communities. In honor of these individuals, convenience companies and brands will show their appreciation with free coffee, free meals or branded merchandise.
