Chapter Spotlight 🎓 | Louisiana State University

We caught up with Louisiana State University’s NSBE Chapter in Region V to see how they’re kicking off the semester and making an impact in Baton Rouge.

Through Math Mondays, LSU NSBE members are supporting K–12 students with tutoring in math and science in partnership with the Louisiana Leadership Institute. The chapter is also creating professional development opportunities to help prepare members for what comes next.

Their semester is already off to a strong start, with 161 attendees at their first general body meeting — nearly half of them attending a NSBE event for the first time. 👏🏾

Meet Sean Thomas, President of the Kennesaw State University NSBE Chapter and an Environmental Engineering senior.

Sean first joined KSU NSBE three years ago, looking for community. Since then, he’s served as Programs Chair and Parliamentarian, experiences that shaped how he approaches leadership through both belonging and trust.

Now, as chapter president, Sean is focused on strengthening the chapter through structured leadership, expanded corporate and alumni partnerships, and programming that helps members feel supported, valued and connected.

His goal is to build something that lasts beyond his term and creates real opportunities for the members coming behind him.

“My advice to anyone stepping into a leadership role is to build the thing that outlasts your term, not just the thing that looks good this semester.”

The NSBE x Honeywell Technologies Scholarship is open, with 15 scholarships available for eligible students pursuing degrees in engineering, technology, and computer science. Selected scholarship recipients will also be paired with a Honeywell Technologies and receive mentoring to support their professional growth in STEM.
