When educators are given the space to imagine differently, this is what they describe.

These ideas came from a teacher in a Move2Learn-supported school- someone seeing everyday how movement shifts focus, behavior, and engagement.

Not small tweaks.
A full redesign.

Movement built into the structure, not added as an afterthought.

And the data backs it up, when movement is integrated into the school day, 92% of educators report stronger student engagement, and classrooms become more focused, regulated, and ready to learn.

And on top of that- 99% of teachers say they enjoy teaching more and feel more effective at teaching! 99%!

This isn’t a “nice idea.”
It’s already happening, across 8,900 students in Alexandria City Public Schools.

The question isn’t if it works.

Movement has always been part of how I care for my mental health. 💙

This Mental Health Awareness Month feels a little different for me. I’m recovering from hip surgery, navigating uncertainty, and rethinking what movement might look like in this next season of life.

After years of logging enough miles to run from DC to LA and back, running became more than exercise. It became a reset button. A way to process stress, regulate emotions, and reconnect with myself.

And that’s part of why movement matters so much to us at Move2Learn.

We know movement doesn’t just support physical health. It supports focus, emotional regulation, learning, confidence, and mental well-being, especially for students navigating increasingly overwhelming days.

Right now, I may not have all the answers about what my own movement journey looks like moving forward. But I do know this: My brain feels better when my body moves. 🧠

So this month, and every month, take five minutes to move. Walk with a friend. Stretch between meetings. Step outside. Walk around the block.

Your mind might thank you for it. 💛

Our Move2Learn Lacrosse Club at wrapped up Tuesday with a fun celebration! 🥍🎉 Our students had an amazing time designing their own lacrosse sticks and received medals to celebrate all of their hard work this season. We are so proud of the teamwork, creativity, and dedication they showed throughout the club. A lot of people still think movement at school is just about “getting kids’ energy out.”

But movement supports SO much more than that.

When most people hear the word “accessibility,” they think about physical infrastructure, ramps, rails, elevators, and accommodations.

And those things matter deeply.

But accessibility also means creating environments where more brains and bodies can successfully participate.

Research continues to show that movement supports attention, memory, emotional regulation, focus, and learning readiness. Yet many classrooms still expect children to sit still for hours at a time, despite the fact that the brain is not designed to learn best through prolonged stillness.

For some students, movement is not a distraction from learning. It’s part of what makes learning accessible in the first place.

At Move2Learn, we are deeply committed to helping schools create learning environments that support the whole child, because expanding our definition of accessibility expands who gets the opportunity to succeed.

Part 5, Purpose, Perspective & Possibility

The final 20 lessons. The ones about identity, resilience, community, and becoming the person you didn’t know you could be.

81. Details matter. Big wins fall apart when you miss the fine print.

82. Bank your wins. When doubt creeps in, remember what you’ve already survived.

83. Take the break. Rest is part of endurance.

84. Redefine “selfish.” Doing what sustains you makes you better for everyone else.

85. You can’t control the weather, only your response to it.

86. There will always be someone faster. Let them inspire you.

87. Your goals will change, and that’s growth.

88. Running became my spiritual practice.

89. Confidence comes after action, not before it.

90. Don’t believe every limiting story you’ve been told about yourself.

91. Find people who set the bar high and believe you can reach it.

92. Start before you’re ready. The path reveals itself as you go.

93. Just because you can’t do it today doesn’t mean you can’t do it tomorrow.

94. Community makes hard things possible.

95. It’s a privilege to choose the life you want.

96. The universe meets intention with opportunity.

97. Nothing meaningful happens fast.

98. Your “weakness” might actually be your superpower.

99. You already have everything you need.

On Saturday, our Latin Dance Club performed at the “I Hope You Dance” event hosted by the Alexandria Choral Society and ! Our students did an amazing job and worked incredibly hard preparing for this performance. We are so proud of their dedication, confidence, and talent on stage.

A major thank you to our dance instructor, Rafael, for his time, passion, and support in helping our students shine!
