Still soaking it all in! 💙✨

We’re so incredibly grateful to NBC4, Telemundo 44 and Comcast NBCUniversal for recognizing Move2Learn through the 2026 Local Impact Grants program!

What an honor to be among the nonprofits selected and to celebrate alongside so many organizations doing incredible work in our community.

A little look back at a very special day! 🎉

We’re still celebrating this one! 💙

Thanks to the incredible generosity of our supporters, this year’s Winning Hand Casino Night paddle raise brought in more than THREE TIMES what it did last year!

Every dollar helps us bring more movement, more joy, and more opportunities for learning to Alexandria’s students.

To everyone who raised a paddle, made a donation, sponsored the event, or helped bring this evening to life, THANK YOU. We’re so grateful to have a community that believes in our mission as much as we do.

Because one post simply wasn’t enough. 🎲💙💛

A few more favorite moments from Move2Learn’s Winning Hand Casino Night!

We’re still so grateful to everyone who came out, showed their support, placed their bets, and helped make the night such a success. The fun may have happened around the casino tables, but the real win is what this community makes possible for Alexandria’s students every day.

Every ticket, donation, sponsorship, and show of support helps us bring more movement into the school day so more students have the opportunity to move, learn, and thrive.

Thank you for going ALL IN with us. ♠️♥️♣️♦️

And we mean a LITTLE.

No one has to be a pro athlete, a ballroom dancer, or a marathoner.

The science says 5 minutes for every 30 minutes is the sweet spot. That’s it! And it can be as simple as walking up and down the hallway at work, doing some jumping jacks, or even some light stretches.

Movement has the power to change our bodies AND our brains. 🧠

And the bar for success is lower than you would think.

How will you incorporate some movement this weekend?

HUGE NEWS 🎉 Move2Learn has been awarded a $14,000 grant through the 2026 NBCUniversal Local Impact Grants program!

We’re incredibly grateful to NBC4, Telemundo 44 and Comcast NBCUniversal for investing in our mission and recognizing the power of movement to transform learning. 💙

At Move2Learn, we know that physical activity does more than get students moving. It fuels learning, supports wellbeing and strengthens connection. This unrestricted funding will help us continue bringing movement into the school day and creating more opportunities for students to move, learn and thrive.

We’re honored to be one of seven nonprofits in the Washington, D.C. region selected for this year’s Local Impact Grants and to be part of a group doing meaningful work for young people and our communities.

Thank you, NBCUniversal, for believing in our work and in the students and educators we serve! 🙌

🎲 We went ALL IN for movement, learning, and Alexandria’s students! 🃏

I’m still feeling the energy from Move2Learn’s Winning Hand Casino Night! It was a night filled with connection, generosity, and a shared commitment to helping our students thrive.

It was such a joy to spend the evening with so many wonderful friends and supporters, including Alexandria Mayor Alyia Gaskins, Elizabeth Lucchesi of the LizLuke Team, Mark Anderson of MGAC, longtime supporter Janet Lewis, former Alexandria School Board Chair Meagan Alderton, Emily and Mike Porterfield, Jay and Stephanie St. John, and event sponsor Ben McGuirl of McGuirl Architecture.

And of course a huge shoutout to the amazing members of our Move2Learn family, including Board Chair Nicole Jones, Out of School Time Program Manager Kidist Square, Director of Operations Danielle Seiger, Karen Wrege of Capital Benefits Auctions, and so many others who made the evening one to remember. ♠️♥️♣️♦️

To our sponsors, donors, community leaders, friends, and everyone who joined us: thank you for going ALL IN for Alexandria’s students.

Your support is so much more than one wonderful evening. It’s an investment in a simple but powerful idea: students learn more when they sit less.

Together, we’re creating healthier schools, stronger classrooms, and brighter outcomes for children across Alexandria.

With gratitude, 💙💛
Brooke Sydnor Curran
President, Move2Learn
