LaTisha Booth has an important message for any women coming into engineering:

"To the future women engineers stepping into this field: yes, we are still underrepresented, but make no mistake, we are essential to making the world of engineering go round. There will be moments when you are the only woman in the room, when your voice isn’t valued the way it should be, or when people focus more on how you look than on what you know. In those moments, remember this, you are every bit as capable as anyone around you. You have the expertise to make the right decisions, the creativity to build what’s never been built, and the insight to analyze problems and deliver the solutions. Hold your ground, trust your mind, and keep going!"

Last week, three members of our staff had the incredible opportunity to visit NASA Goddard Space Flight Center and tour the Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope alongside our Board member, Margaret Dominguez.

As an Optical Engineer, Margaret has dedicated more than 12 years to this groundbreaking project, and it was truly inspiring to hear firsthand about the work, innovation, and perseverance behind a mission of this scale. Seeing the telescope up close was an unforgettable experience, but even more meaningful was learning about the passion and commitment that helped bring it to this milestone moment.
Experiences like this reinforce why hands-on STEM exposure and real-world connections matter so much for the students we serve.

We are incredibly grateful for Margaret’s leadership, service on our Board, and continued commitment to inspiring young people through STEM.

This project-based, real-world competition builds technical knowledge of the Engineering Design Process, project management planning, and even uses industry standard tools like Revit. It also teaches the durable skills that transition high school students into college & career ready adults!
