Real change happens when families are given the opportunity to share their stories.

Yesterday, a Jubilant Birth Albany mom stood alongside leaders and advocates at Governor Hochul’s press event on lowering costs for families, helping bring real experiences into an important statewide conversation.

At BirthNet NY, we believe the people most impacted by maternal and infant health policies should have a voice in shaping them. We’re proud to see community members stepping into that role and helping move birth equity forward.

This is what advocacy looks like. 💛

Maternal Mental Health Day is a reminder that healthy birth outcomes are not just physical. Mental and emotional wellbeing matter too.

Too many birthing people are expected to survive pregnancy, birth, and postpartum while silently carrying anxiety, overwhelm, isolation, burnout, or depression.

And too often, that struggle gets normalized instead of supported.

Support should look like:
community care,
postpartum check-ins,
mental health resources,
rest,
advocacy,
safe conversations,
and people who actually listen.

At BirthNet, we believe birthing people deserve care that is respectful, community-centered, and rooted in support before, during, and after birth.

If this message resonates with you, we hope you stay connected with our community as we continue sharing resources, education, advocacy, and support for birthing people and families across the Capital Region.

Most people don’t realize how much support can change a birth.

Doulas improve outcomes.
They help families feel supported, informed, and prepared.

And still, too many families go into birth without that support.

Not because it doesn’t exist.
But because they don’t know how to access it.

That’s the gap we’re working to close.

DoulaPalooza is where doulas come to practice, grow, and move forward in their work.

If you’re a doula, get in the room.
If you believe in this work, help us expand it.

Get your ticket or sponsor a doula through the link in our bio or at birthnewyork.org
