Two hundred fifty years later, America remains a nation of extraordinary promise and unfinished work.

As members of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated, we proudly carry forward the work of expanding opportunity, advancing justice, and strengthening our democracy for generations to come.

We celebrate freedom while acknowledging that it has not always been experienced equally. We honor those whose courage, sacrifice, and perseverance challenged our nation to become more just, and all who continue that work today.

The Albany (NY) Alumnae Chapter and our youth programs proudly participated in the Capital District YMCA African American Day Parade, celebrating culture, community, and the enduring legacy of African Americans who have shaped our nation.

As we honor Juneteenth, we recognize the significance of June 19, 1865—the day news of freedom finally reached enslaved African Americans in Texas, more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation.

Juneteenth serves as a powerful reminder of resilience, liberation, and the ongoing pursuit of equity and justice for all.
We are honored to stand with our community in celebrating freedom, heritage, and hope for future generations.

Strong advocacy, meaningful conversations, and a day of service in action at Delta and Omega Day at the NYS State Capitol in Albany.

It was an honor to stand alongside members of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. as we engaged with legislators on issues impacting our communities.

After making our way through the Capitol and connecting with so many elected officials, someone jokingly dubbed us the “Coleman Caucus”—and honestly, the name seemed to stick. From office to office, we showed what collaboration, leadership, and civic engagement look like in real time.

Grateful for the opportunity to amplify our voices, strengthen partnerships, and continue the work of advancing equity and opportunity for all.

Happy !

Today we honor the legacy of the last enslaved African Americans in Texas who were finally informed of their freedom, some two and a half years after President Abraham Lincoln signed the Emancipation Proclamation. It was those people, and the generations of Texans who came after them, who made the bold declaration to celebrate this day, marking a reality we know far too well in this country: freedom may be delayed, but it will never be denied.

Though our fight for freedom sadly continues, today we pause to celebrate and embrace the joy of our ancestors who believed in the possibilities of a more promising tomorrow. And in that joy, we remain anchored, steadfast in our pursuit of true freedom and justice for all.
