ICE arrests of children spiked in 2026. The Marshall Project says more than 8,500 children have been arrested by ICE this year. New York is the third-highest in these arrests, as 1,336 children were arrested by ICE since the beginning of the second Trump administration.

Shannon Heffernan, one of the journalists who reported on the data for The Marshall Project, shared that the vast majority of the people who are being detained and arrested, particularly children, are people who've committed civil immigration violations. These are not criminal violations, and these detentions are increasing, particularly happening at routine immigration check-ins at ICE offices.

'UnCaged Festival: A Toy Piano Festival' comes to the Hudson Valley later this week - Three days of miniature keys, maximum sound — chamber music, new works, and experimental performance built entirely around the humble toy piano.

Described by the 'New York Times' as “meticulously whimsical,” the festival brings together musicians for a weekend celebrating one of music's smallest — and strangest — instruments.
People hear "toy piano and don’t know what to expect,” says Phyllis Chen, founder of 'UnCaged.' "What they don't expect is how much range the instrument actually has — it can be mysterious, humorous, beautiful.”
