For children growing up in poverty, summer camp isn’t just about games – it’s also where they learn important life skills. For some, that means simple daily routines like brushing their teeth and washing their hands. For others, it’s learning about teamwork, behavior, and building confidence through activities and play.

For children like Darius, summer camp is more than a holiday. It’s a rare moment of true joy, freedom and belonging.” (“I want to give my family everything their hearts desire,” says 11-year-old Darius*. “Maybe a big house… and a washing machine for my mother.” His hopes are shaped by a different reality: earning enough to support his family. Thoughtful and deeply caring, he sees the weight his parents carry, and he feels it, too.

For many children in Eastern Europe living in poverty, summer camp is the only holiday they will ever have. Mission Without Borders staff and volunteers help create a safe, warm, and joyful place where children can simply be children. At home, many have little chance to rest, play, or try new experiences. At camp, they discover what childhood can look like: time to play, swim, laugh, eat well, and enjoy simple joys they often miss out on.

Most of all, camp gives children joy and memories that stay with them long after summer ends, reminding them that they matter and are not forgotten.

Please pray for every child attending summer camp this year in Moldova. Pray that through the friendships, activities, and care they receive, they would grow in confidence, hope, and a sense of belonging.

Please also pray for the 92 volunteers who recently completed training and preparation for the upcoming camps. Over two full days, they were equipped, encouraged, and inspired as they prepare to serve these children with love and compassion.

To all of our wonderful supporters,

This week I am in Moldova for a Directors Conference. Today we visited a community we support in Palanca, just 2 kilometres from the Ukraine border.

At the outbreak of the war, together with our partner churches in Palanca, we helped support more than 80,000 families fleeing across the border to safety.

It was a privilege to meet some of the incredible cooks who prepared up to 2,000 meals a day for refugees escaping the conflict.

Today, our work continues in the region through our Afterschool Programmes and Child & Family Sponsorship programmes, supporting vulnerable children and families with practical care, encouragement, and hope for the future.

None of this would have been possible without your faithful support and generosity.
