What a beautiful Tuesday it has been!

Today we gathered together for a whakatau to warmly welcome two amazing new kaimahi into our MTH whānau. ❤️🖤🤍

🌟 Jasmine Pene joins our Youth Street Outreach Team as our new Support Person, working alongside Team Lead Te Kou o Rehua Panapa. Jasmine brings a passion for supporting our taitamariki and whānau, and we're excited to have her walking alongside our communities as part of this important kaupapa.

📊 Nicholas Prasad is our new Data Specialist. Nick will help us capture the stories behind our mahi, celebrate our successes, and turn our milestones into meaningful insights that showcase the impact we're making across our rohe. We're thrilled to have his skills strengthening our kaupapa.

It's always special seeing new faces around Unit 4, bringing fresh energy, new ideas, and a shared commitment to serving our people. We know both Jasmine and Nick will be incredible additions to our growing whānau.

Thank you Manaaki Rangatahi for going down and representing the collective.

Mā Te Huruhuru is in full support of the mahi the collective is doing in the youth homelessness space and the efforts to ending youth homelessness here in Aotearoa.

There are four wāhine toa who head four of the leading organisations across the motu on homelessness here in Wellington for one reason: the Govt’s Move-On Orders.

Bianca Johansson is one who leads Manaaki Rangatahi, the only Youth Homelessness Collective to service all of Aotearoa. Bea has been one of my main advisors and connectors when it comes to this area. She and the amazing whānau of Mā Te Huruhuru were instrumental in the design of my first Member’s Bill preventing youth homelessness.

Bea and I - along with her hoa Steph had a much needed catch-up before the big and final debates this afternoon. I’m glad they’re here with Helen Robinson from Auckland City Mission - Te Tāpui Atawhai Dr. Kathie Irwin of the Coalition to End Women’s Homelessness and Ali Hamlin-Paenga of Te Matapihi to give us opposing voices the support we need to give rise to the voices of our most vulnerable communities in Tāmaki Makaurau and throughout Aotearoa.

🌿 Te Whare Mārama Wānanga 🌿

Today, we held a wānanga at Mataatua Marae, creating a space for whakawhanaungatanga, learning and connection with our taitamariki who are joining our work readiness kaupapa. We look forward to walking alongside them throughout their journey and supporting them as they grow, learn and build the skills to achieve their aspirations.

As we celebrate Te Wiki o Te Reo Māori, we also acknowledge the importance of te reo Māori, tikanga and mātauranga Māori within our learning spaces and everyday mahi. These are woven throughout our kaupapa, helping our taitamariki strengthen their cultural identity, confidence and connection.

Yesterday, we had the privilege of supporting Matua Werez at his whakatau into his new mahi.

We are grateful for the mātauranga, wisdom, and guidance he has shared with our team and taitamariki, and for the contribution he has made to our kaupapa.

We wish him all the very best for his future endeavours and mahi. May this next chapter bring continued growth, fulfilment, and many opportunities to make a positive impact.

Yesterday, we welcomed our new kaimahi to the team! We're excited to welcome our new Youth Development Worker and Data Specialist, who will be joining us in the mahi we do to support our taitamariki.

We're excited for the journey ahead, as we continue to support our taitamariki reach their goals.

Today, we acknowledged and celebrated the incredible mahi and contribution of Matua Werez.

As a matua who holds and shares a wealth of mātauranga, he has played an important role in guiding and supporting our taitamariki throughout their journey, helping them build confidence, develop their independence, and strengthen their connection to te ao Māori.

We are incredibly grateful for the knowledge, wisdom, and guidance he has shared with our team and our taitamariki. From leading te reo Māori classes and waiata practices, to creating and nurturing our te ao Māori space, his contribution has been deeply valued.

His presence, whakaaro and commitment to our kaupapa have helped create spaces where our taitamariki can learn, connect, grow and be proud of who they are.

Mā Te Huruhuru kaimahi and taitamariki were proud to attend the second Koroneihana of Kuini Nga wai hono i te po.

It was a special opportunity for our us to come together, and be part of this significant moment in the history of the Kiingitanga movement.

A beautiful day of whanaungatanga, mātauranga, tikanga, and connection for our taitamariki to experience.
