We’re so grateful to once again be the charity of choice for the annual Terry Fox Run NZ, happening on 20 September 2026 in Auckland and Christchurch!

Registrations are FREE and now open ‼️

This community fun run and walk, led by volunteers, is a chance to come together and help support life-changing cancer research in Aotearoa New Zealand.

The 5K is open to everyone, whatever your age or fitness level. Run with friends, walk with your family, join your colleagues, or take part in memory of someone affected by cancer.

Want to support the cause but can’t make it to the event? You can still help by making a donation or sharing the event with your community. Every contribution helps the Cancer Research Trust NZ fund innovative cancer research focused on prevention, cure and care.

Free cervical screening is coming to New Zealand.

From March 2027, eligible women aged 25 to 69 will be able to access free screening for cervical cancer.

Cervical cancer is one of the most preventable cancers. When detected early, it can often be treated successfully, which is why regular screening matters.

Free screening will help remove cost barriers, support earlier detection, and protect more people from cervical cancer.

It’s an important step forward for cancer prevention.

Researchers know that applying for funding can be extremely difficult 😬

But Cancer Research Trust NZ has simplified the process with an online portal 👍

Once a researcher submits their application, it will be peer-reviewed and carefully assessed by our team of clinicians and scientists, both here and internationally.

And if their application isn’t successful, they won’t be left wondering why. We provide clear, constructive feedback outlining what could be strengthened before they apply again.

We’d love to support every project, but funding is limited. Our rigorous assessment process helps us direct grants towards research with the strongest potential to succeed and make a meaningful difference to cancer patients in New Zealand.

Our trusted, reliable, and proven process also attracts other charities to us who wish to partner to fund research, including Breast Cancer Cure, Melanoma New Zealand, Ovarian Cancer Foundation NZ, and most recently, Bowel Cancer New Zealand. This allows us to maximise our impact across the sector.
