In this opening session, we will learn about Te Tiriti o Waitangi — an essential foundation for understanding education and community life in Aotearoa New Zealand.
We are delighted to welcome a guest speaker from Tangata Tiriti – Treaty People, who will share not only the history of Te Tiriti but also how it connects to today’s society and education settings.
This session is open to everyone:
parents raising children in New Zealand, those involved in Japanese language education, and anyone wishing to deepen their connection with the local community.

Session 1: Learning about Te Tiriti o Waitangi (the Treaty of Waitangi)
Our first Learning Together session will explore Te Tiriti o Waitangi, an important foundation for understanding education, community life and society in Aotearoa New Zealand.
We are pleased to welcome a guest speaker from Tangata Tiriti – Treaty People, who will talk about not only the history of Te Tiriti, but also its connection to New Zealand society and education today, in an accessible and easy-to-understand way.
This session is open to anyone who is interested — including parents raising children in Aotearoa, those involved in Japanese language education, and anyone who would like to better understand and connect with their local community.
