The Afghan Embassy in Canberra has officially closed after continuing to provide essential consular services under extremely difficult circumstances.

We sincerely thank His Excellency Ambassador Wahid Waissi and his colleagues for their dedicated service and unwavering support of the Afghan community in Australia, New Zealand, and Fiji.

Following the closure, the Australian Government will no longer accept documents issued by the embassy. Australia, along with many other Western countries, does not recognize the Taliban as Afghanistan's legitimate government.

The Hazara Afghan Association Incorporated (HAAI). respectfully requests all government agencies and Non-government agencies in New Zealand to engage with and seek advice, guidance, and support from registered Afghan community organisations based in New Zealand when consulting on matters affecting the Afghan community.
