Rotary St Johns Ellerslie Club will be at the Volunteer Expo this Saturday. We are a diverse group of professionals and community members with a passion for community service and friendship. Aside from regular meetings we are incredibly effective in undertaking many meaningful community projects with the involvement of members, partners, family and friends. We are particularly passionate about supporting local schools, numerous youth development and leadership initiatives and supporting the wider community through environmental programs, collections for local foodbanks, plus involvement in a wide range of community groups and so much more. The St John’s Ellerslie rotary Clubs was a proud Supporter and Major Sponsor of the recent and very successful Lightfields Event. Rotary was delighted to be involved as it was a celebration of the Arts and a free community initiative bringing families and friends together. Kim it's great to get some positive feedback from our ongoing financial support.

It takes a village to raise a Mobility Dog

We recently received this beautiful letter from Kim, who is partnered with Sunny, and we wanted to share a little of her heartfelt message with everyone who played a part in his journey.

“I know that it truly takes a village to raise and train a service dog. Sunny didn’t become the dog he is because of one person or one stage of his journey. He became Sunny through the combined love, patience, time, teaching, encouragement and commitment of many people.”

Kim says Sunny has brought her confidence, companionship, purpose and laughter, helping her get out and about again and face things that can sometimes feel daunting.

“Having him beside me makes the world feel a little more manageable, and knowing he is there gives me the courage to do things I might otherwise struggle to do.”
And perhaps most beautifully, Kim says that when she looks at Sunny, she sees the whole village behind him — the people who raised him, taught him, socialised him, challenged him and cared for him along the way.

“Sunny may now be my service dog, companion and helper, but a part of him will always belong to the village that helped make him who he is.”

Thank you, Kim, for such a beautiful reminder of the incredible impact of our puppy raisers, volunteers and everyone who helps create these life-changing partnerships.

Our club is an ongoing supporter of this charity

Sometimes our kids need extended hospital stays and when this happens a parent/caregiver is with them. This role is 24/7 and the ability to every so often have a break is really important. 🥰

When Glendowie College launched their new chase boat rotarians were there for the ceremony. As a major sponsor our logo is on the boat. Supporting students to gain watersports experience.
