We have the global authority to influence decision-makers, and the variety of partners at grassroots level to turn the most innovative ideas into reality. We believe that nurturing and caring for children are the cornerstones of human progress. UNICEF was created with this purpose in mind – to work with others to overcome the obstacles that poverty, violence, disease and discrimination place in a

child’s path. We advocate for measures to give children the best start in life, because proper care at the youngest age forms the strongest foundation for a person’s future.

Meet Aamir Ansari, a 14-year-old student from a government school in Uttar Pradesh.

When the Learning by Doing (LBD) programme began in his school, Aamir discovered a new way of learning — one that encouraged him to ask questions and experiment. In the LBD lab, he learned how electrical circuits work, how sensors can detect danger, and how classroom lessons can be applied to solve real-life problems.

Inspired by these experiences, Aamir designed ‘Smart Boots’ — a safety footwear prototype that had sensors to detect danger and alert the wearer.

The Basic Shiksha Department, Government of Uttar Pradesh, Basic Shiksha UP, with UNICEF’s support, is bringing hands-on STEM learning through the Learning by Doing programme to children in government upper primary schools across the state — helping young innovators like Aamir turn curiosity into creativity and ideas into solutions.

Ghar (home), for most of us, it is the place where we feel safe, loved and at peace. But for many children, home can be where they suffer the most, often in silence.

Sakshi Trivedi, , shares this important reminder: if you notice something like this happening around you, be the adult who notices, believes them and speaks up.

Because safety is not a privilege. Every child has the right to live without fear.

When girls are given the opportunity to explore, question, and create, they don't just learn science; they become problem-solvers and leaders.

Through Jigyansa, UNICEF India and the Government of Odisha are making STEM learning hands-on, helping girls build confidence, critical thinking, and real-world skills that prepare them for the future.

Curiosity is more than wanting to know—it's what helps us explore, learn, think critically and imagine what's possible. It gives us the confidence to step beyond our comfort zones, embrace new experiences, and turn them into opportunities for growth.

Vidhi Kanojia reminds us that one simple question can open the door to a lifetime of learning.

Never stop asking questions. Never stop learning.
