🏢 ECSBC Master Trainer Programme – Batch 7 Begins at TERI Gram

The 7th Batch of the ECSBC Master Trainer Programme commenced on 10 August 2026 at TERI Gram, Gurugram, as part of the collaborative capacity-building initiative of the Bureau of Energy Efficiency - ऊर्जा दक्षता ब्यूरो (BEE), Ministry of Power, Government of India, and TERI.

The five-day residential programme is designed to equip professionals from government institutions, academia, and industry with the knowledge and practical understanding required to facilitate the implementation of ECSBC 2024 and ENS 2024. The programme provides comprehensive exposure to critical aspects of sustainable and energy-efficient building practices, including building envelope design, HVAC systems, lighting, water and waste management, renewable energy integration, and code compliance.

By bringing together stakeholders from diverse sectors, the programme seeks to strengthen technical capacity, promote consistent application of the codes, and facilitate the wider adoption of energy-efficient and sustainable building practices across India.

🌱 TERI and Le Frais Food Sign MoU to Advance Algal Biotechnology

TERI and Le Frais Food Pvt. Ltd signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on 7 August 2026 to undertake a pilot-scale programme for cultivating TERI’s proprietary algal strain at Le Frais Food’s Faridabad plant. The collaboration will assess the technical feasibility, scalability, and commercial viability of algal cultivation under industrial production conditions.

The partnership marks an important step towards translating TERI’s algal biotechnology research into scalable industrial applications, while strengthening industry–research collaboration and supporting the development of innovative, commercially viable technologies.

The 3-day Innovate4Environment (I4E) workshops recently concluded in Delhi and Guwahati, marking a major milestone in empowering young climate leaders across India and the UK.
Part of the British Council’s Climate Skills Global Collaboration Grants, I4E is a UK–India Youth Skills programme delivered jointly by TERI - The Energy and Resources Institute and Warwick Manufacturing Group (WMG), University of Warwick. The initiative focuses on building essential technical and green skills by co-developing high-quality, interdisciplinary modules centered on Education for Sustainable Development (ESD).
Brought together youth aged 18–30, the immersive learning journey enabled participants to dive deep into critical sustainability themes, including:
🌱 Biotechnology & Microbiology
🚜 Sustainable Agriculture
⚡ Renewable Energy
♻️ Waste Management

The Guwahati chapter wrapped up with an insightful valedictory session featuring Dr Dipankar Saharia, Senior Director, TERI, Dr Prasanta Bhattacharya Gauhati University, Dr Dhanjit Deka Gauhati University), and Dr Livleen K Kahlon, Director, TERI. The speakers deliberated on the vital role youth play in driving green skills and outlined the path forward for future project interventions

Across both locations, young innovators engaged in expert-led sessions, interactive discussions, exposure trips, and hands-on mentorship to translate bold ideas into actionable, research-backed micro-solutions.

With support from the GEF Small Grants Programme (SGP), implemented by UNDP and coordinated by TERI, Abhyuday Sansthan is advancing climate-smart agriculture and agroforestry-based livelihoods in Chhatarpur district, Madhya Pradesh.

As part of a co-financed initiative, 25 women farmers from 15 villages received 750 fruit and multipurpose saplings, including Aonla, Moringa, Guava, Jamun, Lemon, Mango, Jackfruit, Papaya, Pomegranate, and Karonda.

The initiative promotes nutrition gardens, agroforestry, and sustainable farming practices that improve household nutrition, diversify livelihoods, strengthen climate resilience, and enhance the economic well-being of rural women while contributing to environmental conservation.

Regular follow-up will be undertaken to monitor plantation progress and improve plant survival rates, ensuring long-term social, economic, and ecological benefits.

Together, we are nurturing greener landscapes, resilient communities, and sustainable rural livelihoods in Chhatarpur, Madhya Pradesh.

Team RREC, PwC India, TERI - The Energy and Resources Institute & GiZ collectively conducted a site visit for Agri PV project proposed at Phagi, which can act as the role model and capacity development centre for Farmers.

Agri-PV will optimise land productivity, provide extra income for farmers and protect crops from extreme weather.

The team conducted stakeholder consultation and discussed the ground realities with the locals.

𝗞𝗲𝘆 𝗵𝗶𝗴𝗵𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝘄𝗲𝗿𝗲:

• Assessment of the grid interconnection and power evacuation arrangements.
• Water availability, irrigation practices & groundwater conditions
• Evaluation of horticulture options suitable for integration with the Agri-PV system design and operation

Interaction with site in-charge of the existing solar PV project to understand operational challenges.

Identification of any site-specific constraints or considerations relevant to project implementation.

Local soil type: Black Clayey & Yellow Soil in patches.

Local crops such as moong, jowar, bajra, chickpea (chana), mustard, soybean, vegetables, herbs, and shrubs commonly cultivated under the agro-climatic conditions of the region.
