NTA Fails Again: Students Pay for Institutional Incompetence

SIO strongly condemns the NTA’s decision to re-conduct the UGC-NET 2026 papers in English, Commerce and Sociology after serious factual, typographical, translation errors and repeated questions were found in papers already conducted in June. Thousands of candidates who spent months preparing, paid fees, travelled to examination centres and put their academic and professional plans on hold are once again being forced to appear. NTA makes the mistake; students pay the price. This latest failure, following the NEET-UG crisis and repeated controversies surrounding national examinations, exposes the deep institutional and administrative failures of an agency entrusted with the future of millions. SIO demands an independent investigation into how such flawed papers passed scrutiny, including a probe into any allegations of unauthorised access or circulation, with accountability fixed at every level.
This cannot be solved with another committee or another apology.

SIO demands full public disclosure of the inquiry and security audits, compensation and grievance redress for affected students, and parliamentary scrutiny of the NTA. The Government must reconsider the excessive centralisation of examinations and strengthen the role of States and public universities within a transparent national framework. Students are not the problem the system that repeatedly fails them is. SIO demands accountability, transparency and justice, not another failed examination.

Two-Day Graphic Design Workshop

SIO of India conducted a two-day Graphic Design Workshop at the CTAG office in New Delhi providing delegates with practical, hands-on exposure to different design tools and creative workflows.

The workshop sessions were led by Rizak Mohammad (Graphic Designer, Spect Foundation), Saad Inam (Video Editor, JIH), Rabeeh Muhammed, and Suhail K U (Graphic Designers, SIO).

The sessions focused on basic and practical learning using Adobe Photoshop, Canva, and Adobe InDesign, equipping participants with essential skills and creative applications.

Abdul Hafeez, (National President, SIO of India), and Thashreef KP, (National Secretary, SIO of India), presented certificates to the delegates.

SIO organised a one-day National Campus Leaders Meet (North Zones) in New Delhi, bringing together students and campus leaders from universities and campuses across North India.
The meet provided a space to reflect on the journey and role of SIO on campuses, understand the challenges of contemporary campus life, and discuss the need for ideological, spiritual and intellectual development alongside academic engagement.
Discussions also explored the vision, language and strategies of campus activism, democratic spaces on campuses, and experiences and learnings from recent student movements.
Scholars and student leaders engaged with different sessions, including Ramees EK, Dr. Khan Yasir, Abdul Hafeez, Talha Mannan, Dr. Roshan Mohiddin, Hammad Rahman, Saif Wahab, Abdullah Ameen and Zeeshan Akhtar.
Campus leaders from AMU, DU, JMI, JNU, Jamia Hamdard, Central University of Punjab, and several campuses across Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Haryana and Rajasthan participated in the meet.
