Although supports for Irish athletes have come a long way, there are still gaps in the core support that need to be addressed. For some athletes, a lack of access to critical services can tip the balance between Olympic qualification and watching from the sidelines.
Daniel Wiffen, Nathan Wiffen, Katie Mullan, Philip Doyle, Gráinne Walsh and OFI President Lochlann Walsh joined David Gillick on stage at the Team Ireland Foundation Olympic Golf Fundraiser evening event to discuss how funding can remove barriers and obstacles for athletes.
They reiterated how incredibly important funding is for athletes so that they can focus on training and competing without having to worry how they are going to afford a range of areas including, nutrition, psychology, coaching support, specialist equipment, international training camps, and cutting-edge performance analysis.
