Did you know Dun Laoghaire now offers free accessible boating? 🚤

Andy and Gary from the Enable Ireland Dun Laoghaire hub were invited to attend the launch of a fantastic new initiative being offered in Dun Laoghaire Harbour. BoatHub is a project which aims to open up boating experiences to more people and remove many of the barriers that can often make getting on the water difficult. The service is also free of charge.

Andy and Gary were invited to the project launch at the end of September. There they found out about ‘Grace’, BoatHub’s fully wheelchair-accessible boat. Grace is designed specifically to provide safe and comfortable access to Dublin Bay. It’s also Ireland's first electrically powered wheelchair-accessible vessel.

Wouldn’t it be great if more initiatives like this were introduced on Ireland’s waterways!

🐾 Making furry friends in Ballincollig! 🧡

There were smiles all round when Kian, Olivia and Elaine visited Irish Guide Dogs for the Blind and met some very special four-legged friends, including Buddy the lab. 🐶

“Best Day Ever!” said Elaine, while Olivia shared, “Buddy the lab is my best friend now.”

Days like these are about more than just fun. It’s about building connections, exploring the community, learning new things and enjoying greater independence, choice and inclusion.

As a member organisation, Enable Ireland stands with the National Disability Services Association in expressing concern that the €500 Cost of Disability payment announced in Budget 2027 falls far short of addressing the real and ongoing costs faced by people with disabilities and their families.

Wouldn’t it be better if Ireland was more accessible and inclusive for all visitors. 🇮🇪 ☘️

Failte Ireland is inviting people to share their experiences of travelling in Ireland. This will help the National Tourism Development Authority understand how they can make tourism in Ireland more accessible and inclusive for everyone.

Their survey is available online in several formats, including Easy Read, Irish Sign Language, and multiple languages.

Just over a week left to have your say.

The closing date for submissions to the review of the Disability Act 2005 is next week, Friday, 9 October.

This is an important opportunity for people with disabilities, families, carers and representative organisations to share their experiences and help shape future legislation in Ireland.

The review is looking at a range of areas, including the definition of disability, the assessment of needs process, accessible public buildings, universal design, employment and more.

A wide range of accessible consultation materials is available, including Irish Sign Language (ISL), Easy-to-Read, screen reader-friendly versions and braille on request.

Submissions can be made in writing by email or post, and audio and video submissions are also welcome.

Every experience and perspective matters. If you would like your voice to be heard, make sure to submit your feedback before Friday, 9 October.

A chance to have a break. That’s what the Hazeldene Residential Respite Service provides to children and their families. ☀️

Over the summer, Hazeldene hosted camps for children who are currently on the wait list for overnight respite. The camps were a chance to get away for a day, have fun with other children, and do activities of their choice. Children also got to know the house and our staff, so they’ll feel familiar with Hazeldene when overnight respite becomes available.

Thank you to everyone who supported Life With No Limits this September. Whether you shared Champions' stories, donated, shopped in an Enable Ireland charity shop, or helped spread the word, you made this campaign a success.

Together, we've celebrated achievement, empowerment and inclusion, while supporting Enable Ireland's work with over 13,000 children and adults with disabilities across Ireland.

A special thank you to the Life With No Limits Champions for sharing their personal stories and experiences. Their voices have helped challenge assumptions, inspire others, and demonstrate what is possible when people are empowered to live the life they choose.

Hear from staff and parents about Little Pals, an inclusive preschool located in Enable Ireland in Sandymount. It’s a child-led environment where children are encouraged to be creative, curious and share their interests.

The children who attend our preschool are both from the community and from the Children’s Disability Network Teams.

The Annual Report 2025 is now available to read on our website.

Every year, our annual report is a chance to reflect on Enable Ireland’s impact. In 2025, Enable Ireland provided assessment, therapeutic, educational and family supports to over 12,400 children and more than 500 adults across 15 counties. We continue to expand and strengthen our services, provided from over 40 locations.

More than 4,300 donors supported our services, along with those who made a purchase at one of our 29 charity shops or donated items to our textile banks across Ireland. Thank you. Your support ensures we can continue to deliver our vital disability services.
