๐Ÿ—ฃ๏ธ โ€œTo be honest, I went into the championships genuinely questioning whether it was time to retire. I felt like I had given everything I had to the sport, and my focus was starting to shift towards the future for my family.

Maybe thatโ€™s why I raced well. There was no pressure, no expectations. I told myself I would simply give it absolutely everything, and if it happened to be my last race, I could walk away proud knowing I left nothing behind.

Thankfully, the results came. More than the title itself, they brought back something I felt I had been missing for a while, confidence. They reminded me that maybe there is still more to come, that I can still compete at the highest level and perform when it matters most.โ€

Irelandโ€™s first Universal 4x100m Relay team recorded 48.99 seconds at the Dublin Graded Meet at Dundrum South Dublin Athletics Club on June 13th.

The team featured Orla Comerford, Alex Lee, Charlie Byrne and Shauna Bocquet, guided and supported by relay coach Daniel Kilgallon.

The Universal Relay is one of Para athleticsโ€™ most distinctive team events. Each team is made up of two men and two women from different classification groups, with each athlete completing 100m and each exchange made through a physical tag rather than a baton.

๐Ÿ—ฃ๏ธ โ€œI love the challenge, but this race feels like more of a gratitude race for me.

It has been a challenging year for me mentally, so to be wearing the Irish trisuit again, to finally have a guide in place, and to get a race start for the season means a huge amount.

Hopefully Jemma enjoys it too and wants to keep guiding me after this!โ€
