Swansea Baby Basics

Swansea Baby Basics Baby Basics provides clothing, toiletries and other essentials to families in need. For some these are the only items they have for their child.

We work with health professionals to give parcels including but not limited to: teenage mums, people seeking asylum and women fleeing domestic abuse and trafficking. Baby Basics was founded in 2009 at the King's Centre church in Sheffield, we are now operating this scheme in Swansea. Baby Basics works with midwives, health visitors and other professional bodies to provide starter packs for those i

n need. We can help vulnerable groups such as teenage mums, asylum seekers, and women fleeing domestic violence and trafficking,
Our Moses baskets provide a safe bed to sleep in and are packed full of toiletries such as nappies, wipes, maternity pads, as well as blankets, towels and baby clothes. We believe that Baby Basics shows God's love in action. In order to refer a client to us, please contact us using the email address on this page. Leave a message with a name and contact details and we will get in touch. If you would like to donate items you can bring them to St Thomas Parish office in the Church Hall, St Thomas Library. Please see the separate list of what we can and cannot accept. You can also help by praying for the project and the volunteers; telling your friends about Baby Basics; knitting blankets, cardigans, and other lovely things for newborns; or contributing financially. Baby Basics is part of the community projects from St Thomas Swansea, and is based in St Thomas Church, Lewis Street, SA1 8BP.

Marisa & the team were joined by ITV Wales today to discuss the impact of increasing formula milk prices & how the fall out affects those in need.

Although the increase we see in demand for essentials shows the sad situations faced by families in the UK, we are honoured that we can be there to support them and help ease the anxiety faced by parents who are unable to provide for their newborns.

If you are a mum in need of support, please contact your midwife, health visitor, social worker or any other professional working with you and ask them to make a referral to us on your behalf.

If you wish to donate, please see our FB page for our current wish-lists and opening hours

Thank you 🩷💙

Our Baby Bank not only relies on regular generous donations from the public, but on the invaluable support of our volunteers 💛

Without them we just would not be able to fulfil the daily referrals and keep on top of the sorting of every donation that comes in.

Pictured here are Louise and Carley, and Louise’s daughter Macey, all who help Marisa with everything from sorting donations, to the washing and ironing of baby clothes, putting the moses baskets together & transporting items we can’t accept to City Church’s baby bank.

These women keep the show running and we are so grateful!! 🙌🏻

This shout out is a small token of our appreciation - thank you for helping to keep Swansea Baby Basics running smoothly so that we can be ready to help whenever a referral comes in ❤️🙏🏼🥰🧺👶🏼

Our volunteer Vicky donated her iCandy Strawberry pram system last week - it’s seen her through 2 children & is still in great condition - she gave the seating & covers a wash & even found the instruction manual! 📖

It’s an emotional moment to give up the family pram 🥲 but if you’re thinking about it, please consider donating to us here at Swansea Baby Basics - we’d be delighted to receive it & then pass on to a Mum in need 🩵

We’re open for donations at St Thomas Church, Wednesday - Friday mornings until 12:30pm 🙂
