A note for the start of a new month, in case you need it🤍

There's a lot of pressure to hold it all together, to keep up, to be "fine". But feeling tired, lost, angry, numb, or overwhelmed doesn't mean you're doing life wrong. It means you're a person, having a human response to whatever you're carrying.

You don't need to have it all figured out today. Go gently🌿

Whether you're carving pumpkins, heading out in costume, or staying in with the lights low and a comfort film on, we hope you have a night that feels good for you 🎃

Halloween isn't everyone's favourite time of year, and that's completely valid. Crowds, loud noises, unexpected knocks at the door and big social plans can feel overwhelming, especially if you're neurodivergent, living with anxiety, or just not feeling your best right now. It's okay to sit this one out, set a boundary, or pop a "no trick or treaters, thank you" sign on the door.

If things feel scarier than they should at the moment, you don't have to face it alone. Our services are here to support people across England, and you can find out more through the link in our bio 💜

A warm welcome, no appointment and no referral needed. That’s what our Newfield Green Wellbeing Café offers people in Gleadless and Heeley.

Today, our team joined the local community to celebrate the opening of the Newfield Green Neighbourhood Mental Health Centre, alongside the reopening of the Terry Wright Community Hall and Newfield Green Library.

Newfield Green is one of six sites across England taking part in the NHS Neighbourhood Mental Health pilot, a £1.3m project funded by NHS England.

It brings together several mental health services in Sheffield in a safe and supportive environment, making it simpler for people to access joined-up care. Anyone aged 18 and over can come along, any day of the week, at any time.

Thank you to our brilliant team, and everyone who helped bring this space to life. Since opening in April, contacts have jumped from 47, to 495 in September. This is a strong indication that the community views the centre as safe, reliable, and accessible.

If you live in Gleadless and Heeley, and could do with a space to talk, or know someone who could, you’ll find us at Terry Wright Community Hall, 569 Gleadless Rd, S2 2BT. Just drop in.

Boundaries aren't only about what we say to other people. They're also about how we speak to ourselves💗

Most of us would never tell a friend they're lazy for needing rest, or that they're failing because things feel hard right now. But we say it to ourselves all the time.

Next time that critical voice pipes up, try swapping the script. You're not wasting time, you're recharging. You're not too emotional, your feelings are valid. You're doing what you can today, and that is enough.

Sometimes our minds get tangled, and no amount of pushing seems to smooth it out💜

It's okay to slow down. It's okay to not have the answers right now. Rest isn't giving up, it's giving your mind the space it needs to untangle in its own time.

Be gentle with yourself today. You're doing better than you think🌿

A new, dedicated space for people in mental health crisis has opened in Kent and Medway.

On Friday, our colleagues Jack Wise and Zoe Williams joined partners at the official opening of Kent and Medway Mental Health NHS Trust’s new Health-Based Place of Safety in Maidstone.

The purpose-built suite brings services previously delivered across three sites into one location. It gives adults who need an urgent mental health assessment under Section 136 of the Mental Health Act a safe, therapeutic and person-centred environment.

It has been shaped by staff, people with lived experience, carers and partner organisations, and it’s a great example of what health, policing and other services can achieve when they work together.

Thank you to Kent and Medway Mental Health NHS Trust for the invitation. We’re proud to be working alongside partners to improve how people are supported through a crisis.

Sometimes the pressures of our world can make it seem like we have to shrink ourselves to fit in and this can be incredibly impactful on your mental health.
