As part of SCDA's centenary celebrations, we will be opening the doors of our extensive Script Library on Saturday 26 September for an afternoon exploring the relationship between new writing, publishing and amateur theatre.

From 2pm to 4pm, the event will include a short film created at our 2026 Scottish Final in Pitlochry, where members share what SCDA and our festivals means to them, followed by a panel discussion featuring people involved in the creation, publishing and staging of plays, including representatives from the Scottish Society of Playwrights and Playwrights’ Studio, Scotland.

With more than 14,000 unique titles, the SCDA Script Library is an important resource for amateur theatre groups looking for plays to perform and provides a link between playwrights, publishers and community theatre throughout Scotland.

Canapés and refreshments will be provided.

4-6th March 2027 at Barrfields Theatre in Largs.

Such sad news. Those who were lucky enough to know Gill will know that the words below describe her perfectly. Our thoughts are with her family and friends.

Everyone at PADS are shocked and devastated by the sudden loss of our wonderful, incomparable, Gill James. It’s genuinely hard to find the words to explain how much she meant to the club and our community. She poured her heart and soul into performing, directing and watching drama and loved nothing more. Always fun, always supportive, always the last one in the bar after a performance. She really was the beating heart of Plockton ADS and our world will have a little less sparkle without her. If only we could have an encore. ♥️
