This years Geoffrey Whitworth winner for original playwriting competition, run by the United Kingdom Community Drama Festival Federation, is Keith Mackenzie with his brilliant play "A Thousand Invisible Choices"

Final judge Colin Dolley said:

“There is much originality in the style and structure of the writing in this absorbing script "

Runner-up was “We Found Love in a Homeless Place" by Jamie McLeish from Sunderland.

Congratulations to both and thank you to all who entered the competition.

The results are in for the Scottish Youth Final…

🏆 First Place (Quidi Vidi Trophy) - Beath High School, “Ms Campbell’s Class Fifth Period” by Leyla Josephine

🎭 Second Place (Dolly Nicol Youth Trophy) - Birsay Drama Group, “Wannabes” by Emilia O’Donoghue

🎭 Colin Peter Trophy for Creativity & Imagination - Stranraer Drama Group, “The Wizard of Oz in 30 minutes” by Jennifer Reif

Congratulations to Beath High School on being crowned Scottish Champions !!!

We are just one day away from the top 3 youth teams in the country taking to the stage at the Perth Theatre to compete for the title of Scottish Champions. There are still some tickets available but they are selling like hot cakes. So get yours now to avoid disappointment.

And just like that, it’s time to meet our final youth team…

Last but not least, and closing out what I’m sure will be an exciting evening of theatre, we have Birsay Drama Group with their production of “Wannabes” by Emilia O’Donoghue.

Birsay Drama Group will be representing SCDA Northern Division and we look forward to welcoming you to Perth.

Well there you have it - you have now all three of our competing teams and I’m sure you’ll agree it’s going to be a great Scottish Final.

Beath High School are representing SCDA Eastern Division and we can’t wait to welcome them to the Scottish Final stage.
