Sistema Scotland

Sistema Scotland Scottish charity delivering the transformational social change & music education Big Noise programme.

Sistema Scotland is a charity on a mission improve lives and strengthen communities through music and nurturing relationships. We do this through our transformational social change and music education programme, Big Noise, where the symphony orchestra becomes a community that supports children and young people to gain vital life skills such as confidence, resilience, team work, pride, creativity,

and aspiration, and aims to strengthen community cohesion and tackle inequalities in some of Scotland’s most disadvantaged areas. Through music and nurturing relationships, from infancy to adulthood, Big Noise supports participants’ wellbeing and helps them reach their full potential. This enables them to become happy, healthy adults and lead successful and fulfilled lives. Big Noise programmes supporting a combined 3,500 children and young people are delivered in the targeted communities of Raploch and Fallin in Stirling, Govanhill in Glasgow, Douglas in Dundee, Torry in Aberdeen, and Wester Hailes in Edinburgh.

These young musicians are ready for Big Noise summer concert season… are you? 😎🎶

One of our favourite times of year is nearly here as we celebrate the end of another afterschool club term next month with special concerts across our Big Noise communities ✨

Our summer concerts are a brilliant opportunity for our young musicians to showcase all their hard work and talent to family, friends, and special guests, building pride and confidence while sharing the joy of performing together!

After returning to Stirling after some time living abroad, Big Noise helped Michelle, her husband, and their family find a sense of community in Raploch. 🏠

"For us, Big Noise just made us feel part of the community again"

Listen to Michelle as she explains how Big Noise Raploch has helped Michelle's daughters on their way to pursuing careers in music by developing essential skills and resilience 🎶

We are delighted that Michelle's Big Noise journey has lead her to joining the fundraising team at Sistema Scotland - helping more families like hers access Big Noise.

For Colleen and her family, Little Noise has provided vital support and community during tough times. After taking time away from work to support her family, Colleen found herself isolated - but attending Little Noise at Big Noise Raploch opened the door to connection, confidence, and new opportunities in her community. 🎶

What started as a taking part in a weekly session with her boys grew into something much bigger: volunteering, training, and eventually a return to work. Along the way, her sons found a place where they feel safe, supported, and free to be themselves. 😊

“It was the highlight of my week… it got me out the house and talking to other mums. I really believe in myself a lot more now."

“I don’t think we could ever do without it.”

Today, Big Noise continues to be part of everyday life for Colleen and her family - a source of support, growth, and belonging. 🌟
