A huge thank you to Aberdeen Student Show for supporting Big Noise Torry 🫶

We’re delighted to have received a bronze award of £2,895.76 from this year’s show, Cove Actually, which raised an incredible £168k for 50 local charities.

A big thank you to everyone involved, and to Michael, who volunteers at Big Noise Torry for proudly representing Big Noise at the disbursement ceremony.

Some of our young musicians kicked off their Big Noise Little Tour this morning!

This week, P6 and P7s from Big Noise centres in Govanhill, Big Noise Raploch, and Big Noise Wester Hailes are coming together to play new music and make new friends 🎻 🥁 🎺

Today we visited Big Noise Raploch, and we're excited to be hosting in Govanhill tomorrow!

A huge well done to our young musicians at Big Noise Douglas who joined our friends at the Royal Scottish National Orchestra onstage last week for a special side-by-side performance of Leroy Anderson’s ‘The Syncopated Clock’ 🕰️ 🎶

After weeks of hard work and dedication, it was fantastic to see them confidently take their places on the big stage at Caird Hall alongside the national orchestra.

🎺 Celebrating five years of Big Noise Fallin!

Yesterday afternoon, we welcomed family and friends to celebrate five years of Big Noise in Fallin, with a fantastic performance from our young brass players 🎉

It was a lovely opportunity to look back on everything our brass superstars have achieved over the past five years and celebrate all that’s still to come 💫

At Big Noise, we know that poverty can create barriers to children and young people getting the most out of their experience and sometimes stop them taking part altogether. That’s why, as well as everything we do at Big Noise being completely free for all members, we also work alongside families to help remove those barriers.

We also know that everyone’s circumstances are different, so our approach is flexible and tailored to what each child and family needs.

We’re excited to welcome Lorenzo Sanchez-Perez this month as the new Head of Centre at Big Noise Douglas ✨

Lorenzo is already a familiar face at Big Noise Douglas in Dundee, having worked there for nine years, most recently as a Senior Musician. He’s looking forward to building on his previous experience while leading the centre and continuing to grow the programme alongside the young musicians, families, schools, and wider community he has got to know so well.

“Big Noise Douglas is much more than a music programme. It is children, families, schools and neighbours making something together, and it is a privilege to lead the centre. I can't wait to see what our young people do this year, and I hope to see many of you at our concerts.

My favourite thing about Big Noise Douglas is that it belongs to the community. It is the children arriving after school full of energy, the families who come along to our concerts, and the support we get from them. Douglas is a warm and proud community, and it is a pleasure to be part of it.”

We were delighted to welcome the new cohort of Royal Conservatoire of Scotland students this morning for their first Big Noise module lecture with our Director of Music! ✨

Since 2018, we’ve partnered with RCS to give students the opportunity to explore working with children and young people in community settings, combining lectures with hands-on experience at Big Noise centres.

Previous students have even gone on to join the Big Noise team, bringing their learning and experience with them.

We’ll be sharing more as this year’s students progress through the module and begin their placements in the new year 🎶

We were excited to welcome RSNO Assistant Conductor Celia Llácer to Big Noise Douglas this week to help our young musicians prepare for their upcoming side-by-side performance with the Royal Scottish National Orchestra at Caird Hall next month ✨
