Walking Scotland

Walking Scotland Hello! We are Walking Scotland. Your national walking and wheeling charity. Formerly known as Paths for All. We are Scotland’s walking charity.

We support people in communities across Scotland to be active every day. Walking is the easiest and most accessible way to do this. Our work focuses on three themes:
- Walking is for everyone.
- Walking is for everywhere.
- Walking is for everyday. We create inclusive opportunities for Scots to walk and wheel within their local community, to local services, to and from greenspaces and for leisure.

We had a busy day last week capturing Walking Scotland images 📸

We used an Ian Findlay Path Fund supported route as our shoot location, which made it a comfortable and accessible day for everyone involved. We all had big smiles despite the rain, as we enjoyed walking and wheeling in the fresh air.

Keep your eyes peeled for new photos, coming soon! 👀

"All movement matters and people can and should try to offset the health consequences of unavoidable sedentary time by upping their daily step count."

A new study of over 72,000 people has found benefits of walking no matter how much time had been spent sitting.

Increasing daily steps was linked to lower risks of death (39%) and cardiovascular disease (21%), even for people who spend much of their day sitting.

Another reminder that it's always a good idea to go for a wee walk!

Last week, we celebrated the opening of another Ian Findlay Path Fund project. The new path connects the communities of Newton and Duntarvie. Residents used to have to walk alongside a busy and dangerous road to get to school or local services. This new path provides a safe and accessible off-road route.
