Circular Communities Scotland Empowering Scottish Communities to Deliver a Circular Economy

Circular Communities Scotland is a membership organisation dedicated to supporting the establishment of a circular economy in Scotland. We represent and support repair, reuse and recycling charities and social enterprises across the country. Our members prevent valuable products and materials from ending up in landfill, create local jobs, economic opportunities, and help promote and create social and environmental justice in their communities. Circular Communities Scotland also supports our projects, the Share and Repair Network and our Reuse Consortium.

is a campaign that supports strong reuse policies for Scotland.

The circular third sector is made up of fantastic organisations that support our communities, protect the environment and strengthen the economy.

We believe these organisations should benefit from strong reuse policies that deliver tangible support, open new opportunities and create the right conditions for them to thrive.

Our 'Get Reuse Right' Policy Paper shares the policy asks we believe will help Scotland to Get Reuse Right.

Circular Communities Scotland works to connect our members with their local representatives, helping to promote community reuse to MSPs - and was pleased to arrange a visit to Midlothian Advice & Resource Centre (MARC’s) Community Furniture Shop with constituency MSP Colin Beattie earlier this month.

MARC staff shared information about their work, and the positive impact they've had locally - collecting unwanted furniture and white goods and providing them to families at affordable prices or no cost.

This was a perfect time to recognise the role of MARC in the community, as it celebrates its 40th anniversary - a huge achievement and testament to the work of their dedicated team.

We are delighted that this milestone has been formally recognised through a parliamentary motion submitted by Mr Beattie, which can be found here: https://www.parliament.scot/chamber-and-committees/votes-and-motions/S7M-01328

Thank you to Mr Beattie for visiting and for the motion, and congratulations to the MARC team for 40 years supporting their community and reducing waste!

It’s one week until our Holyrood Repair Café at The Scottish Parliament!

In one weeks’ time Circular Communities Scotland and our Share and Repair Network will host our first ever Parliamentary Repair Café.

This invite only event offers a unique opportunity for MSPs to see the amazing work repair cafés across Scotland do, offering the opportunity for communities to fix items they love instead of throwing them away.

We believe the benefits of all community reuse, repair and sharing charities and social enterprises should be recognised – which is why we’re looking forward to asking MSPs to pledge to for Scotland’s reuse, sharing and repairing charities. Stay tuned for more campaign information next week.

Are you a Circular Communities Scotland member? We still have some spaces available for our Holyrood Repair Café. Email [email protected] to enquire about joining us on October 6th 2026 - you must register to be able to attend.
