WHAT DOES LOCAL CLIMATE ACTION LOOK LIKE?

For us, it looks like useful items being given another life, families accessing affordable goods, people learning practical skills and volunteers working together to support their community.

As part of Scotland’s Climate Week, we’re highlighting what our customers told us about the value of the Stirling Reuse Hub.

When we asked what Stirling would lose without the Hub, people talked about much more than shopping. They talked about affordable goods, community connection, volunteering, employment, skills and the environmental benefits of reuse.

However, 22.2% of respondents did not know that the Reuse Hub is part of Transition Stirling. Others asked us to share more evidence showing the difference our work makes.

YOU SAID: Tell us more about your impact.

WE’RE DOING: We will share more facts, stories and information from our Impact Report across social media and within the Hub.

In 2025 alone:

♻️ 120 tonnes of material were diverted
🌍 Approximately 95,000kg of CO₂ was saved
🏠 Around 79,000 reused items found new homes
🤝 More than 80 volunteers supported our work
🛠️ More than 60 events and workshops were delivered

Climate action isn’t always a large national project. Often, it starts locally with people choosing to donate, borrow, repair, reuse, volunteer or learn a new skill.

Those everyday actions add up, and we’re going to do more to show the difference they make.

YOU SAID. WE LISTENED. NOW WE’RE ACTING.

During June and July, 180 people completed our Stirling Reuse Hub Customer Survey.

The overall feedback gave us plenty to celebrate:

♻️ 81.7% visit to reduce waste
🤝 58.3% visit to support the community
💷 56.7% visit to save money
😊 92.2% rated our customer service Good, Very Good or Excellent

You also told us where we could improve, including our layout and signage, donation times, parking information, pricing, accessibility and how we communicate what happens behind the scenes.

We have now turned your feedback into an action plan covering immediate improvements, things we need to look at and longer-term issues requiring additional resources or changes to our premises.

Over the next few weeks, we’ll share what you told us and what we’re doing about it.

🏳️‍🌈 Stirling Pride 2026 is here! 🏳️‍⚧️

We were absolutely thrilled to be involved in last year’s celebrations, when our incredibly talented Maker, Christine Hilditch, created these fantastic sculptures for the event. Just look at them! 🌈

We’re sending a huge shout-out to everyone involved in organising Stirling Pride 2026 and wishing you another colourful, joyful and hugely successful celebration.

It’s World Environment Day.

Sometimes it's easy to look at the challenges facing our planet and wonder if one person can really make a difference.

The truth is that every positive change starts with someone deciding to do something differently.

A repair instead of a replacement.A borrowed tool instead of a new purchase.A reused item instead of something sent to landfill.

None of these actions will solve everything on their own. But when thousands of people make small changes, those changes become a movement.

Every day at the Stirling Reuse Hub, we see people choosing to repair, reuse, borrow, donate, volunteer and learn new skills. These choices don't just reduce waste, they build stronger communities and show that a different way of doing things is possible.

This World Environment Day, remember that you don't need to change the whole world on your own.

Just start where you are. Your actions matter.Your choices matter.And together, they add up to real change.

What if you could cook dinner using less energy… and make the cooker yourself?

Meet Pam, our sewing whizz, who’ll be showing you how to create your own Thermal Cooking Bag at the Stirling Reuse Hub on 10th June.

A thermal cooker works by trapping heat and insulation around a pot after it’s been brought to temperature. Instead of continuing to use energy on the hob, the retained heat keeps working for you.

It’s a simple idea that’s been used around the world for generations and it’s surprisingly effective.

Even better? You’ll make your own thermal cooking bag using reclaimed materials and take it home at the end of the day.

✔ Learn a practical sewing project
✔ Discover an energy-saving cooking technique
✔ Reuse materials that might otherwise go to waste
✔ Leave with a finished thermal cooker

Places are limited and the workshop takes place on Wednesday 10th June.
