Fundraising: We had a fantastic time at our annual Charity Golf Day 2026 last month at Sitwell Park Golf Club . Our thanks go to all the teams who took part, to the sponsors, to the club, and to our volunteers. We raised over £4,600 and we're looking forward to next year already!

Client Event: Bookings are open for our popular annual Client Christmas lunches and entertainment which are running each day between 14th - 18th December 12:00pm to 2:00pm at SRSB in Sheffield. Client Activity: Our monthly Virtual Book Club met recently to discuss The Secret Diary of Hendrik Groen, 83¼ Years Old by Hendrik Groen. The group scored the book 60 out of 100, it was felt that the diary format didn't suit everyone's taste. However it did spark really good conversations about getting older and care homes.

The next Virtual Book Club is on Tuesday 10th November from 7pm to 8:30pm via Zoom when we'll be reviewing Hear No Evil by Sarah Smith.

Raising Awareness: South Yorkshire People's Network (The People’s Network) Tram Livery Design Concept.

We have been working with The People’s Network to give feedback from our visually impaired clients about the livery and signage for the public transport network. In October they came to show us some designs for further feedback. We gave thoughts about things that make a difference to our clients, and the many sight conditions that people have, each with different challenges. So we discussed things such as light conditions, audio announcements, the difference that high contrast makes, the clarity of icons, as well as the use of certain colours.

We want to thank The People’s Network for approaching us at the design stage and for taking our comments on board. We will be welcoming them back again soon to see further developments and look forward to establishing an ongoing relationship and discussion group with them.

Raising Awareness: RNIB have launched an Accessible Streets campaign which aims to make every neighbourhood safe for people with sight loss

Client Update: Next week at our Coffee Morning (Wed 28th oct) we will welcome a local Police Community Support Officer (PCSO) to our Coffee Morning to give a short talk to clients about crime prevention at around 10:30am.
