We’re pleased to announce our Befriending Service, offering friendly, regular contact and companionship for members.
Living with or caring for someone with ME/CFS, fibromyalgia or Long Covid can sometimes make it harder to stay connected with other people. When your energy is limited or your health is unpredictable, or caring responsibilities make it harder to find time for yourself, getting out and about, maintaining friendships and taking part in activities can become difficult or not possible. Over time, this can leave people feeling lonely, isolated or disconnected.
Our Befriending Service connects Sheffield ME and Fibromyalgia Group members with trained volunteers for regular, friendly conversation and companionship.
You might simply miss having someone to talk to, want to share your interests with someone, or feel that a little more regular social contact would make a difference.
Befriending is about conversation, companionship and connection. It isn't counselling or medical support, and you don't need to have a particular problem or reason for wanting a befriender.
You can find full information about how the service works, what to expect and how to register your interest on our website: https://www.sheffieldmegroup.co.uk/post/befriending-service
