Thinking about volunteering in Sheffield this autumn? This could be a good place to start.

Our next VAS Volunteer Fair is coming up on Wednesday 30th September, bringing together organisations from across Sheffield in one place.

You don’t need to arrive knowing exactly what kind of volunteering you want to do. You can come along, meet different organisations, ask questions and get a sense of the opportunities that might suit your interests, skills or availability.

This September, you’ll be able to meet organisations working across health, heritage, the environment, community support, children and families, advice services and more.

Could you bring your finance experience to our Board?

We’re looking for a Treasurer to join the Voluntary Action Sheffield Board and bring a strong financial perspective to our governance and decision making.

This voluntary role could suit someone with accountancy or relevant financial experience who is interested in applying their skills at Board level.

As Treasurer, you’ll work alongside other Trustees and our Head of Finance, contributing to conversations around budgets, financial risk, audit and longer-term planning.

Previous Trustee or Treasurer experience isn’t essential. We provide induction and mentoring for new Trustees.

Projects & Engagement Officer

A varied role supporting projects, gathering people’s views, analysing data and demonstrating impact.

Could you bring your finance experience to the VAS Board?

We’re looking for a new Treasurer to join the Voluntary Action Sheffield Board of Trustees.

Our Treasurer plays an important role in the financial governance of VAS, working with fellow Trustees and our Head of Finance to make sure the Board has a clear understanding of our finances, risks and long-term financial strategy.

We’re interested in hearing from qualified accountants, people working towards a professional accountancy qualification, or those with relevant financial experience.

You don’t need previous experience as a Treasurer or Trustee. Induction and mentoring will be available.

MoreLife, working with Sheffield City Council, provides free weight management support designed to help people build healthier habits that fit into everyday life.

The 12-week programme includes:

- Nutrition and healthy eating support
- Physical activity and wellbeing
- Online, face-to-face and digital sessions
- Support from a dedicated practitioner
- Group activities with like-minded people

There is also a free Family Weight Management Programme for eligible families with children aged 4–17.
