Can you help? Ben's Centre really needs donations of women's clothing - t-shirts, joggers, coats, jumpers etc - anything that can help our clients stay warm & dry while on the streets of Sheffield. 🚺👖🧤🧣

Last Thursday, Ben's Centre Celebrated its 30th anniversary since opening in Sheffield in 1996. 🍊

In the day centre, we hosted a celebration for our clients, with decorations, a tasty fajita lunch (clients' choice) and live music! 🎉

Later on, we hosted a celebration inviting members of our community to commemorate Ben's Centre's legacy, with speeches from Sarah Batty C.E.O and Trustee, Alan Brailey. A big thank you to all those who were able to come along and celebrate this milestone with us. 🫶

We wanted to celebrate not only our legacy of being a place of acceptance and stability for people facing addiction and homelessness, but the community who made it all possible, including our amazing staff and volunteers team over the years, our beneficiaries who have helped shape the service, and the organisations and individuals in our community who have supported us with grants, donations, fundraisers, and all those who have responded to our appeals in times of need. Ben's Centre would not be able to do the work we do today, supporting some of Sheffield's most vulnerable individuals, without you. 🧡

Thirty years of Ben's Centre. Three decades of supporting people in Sheffield facing street drinking, homelessness and the kind of complex need that other services too often turn away. They are a stalwart of this city's voluntary sector and the fact they've sustained that work for so long says a great deal about the people behind it.

Congratulations to the whole team. Long may their work continue.

Charity celebrates 30 years of being "lifeline" for substance users in Sheffield

We know it's only September, but we're already planning our annual festive donation campaign to support Sheffield charities 🎄

We'll be back on Moor Sheffield for the Sheffield Markets Christmas market, from Wednesday 18th to Monday 23rd November, collecting donations for Archer Project, Ben's Centre, Swwop Ltd, Framework Charity, HARC (Homeless And Rootless at Christmas) and others.

We'd also like to set up donation points across the city to make it really easy for people to get involved in supporting the campaign.

How you can help:

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY - MONDAY DAY CENTRE VOLUNTEER

Could you help support vulnerable people affected by addiction? We are currently looking for day centre volunteers to support staff during the provision of the day service at Ben’s Centre. 🧡

This is a client-facing role that involves chatting with clients, serving hot drinks & refreshments, assisting staff during lunch service, and generally being a friendly face for our vulnerable clients.

No qualifications are required, however past experience working with substance users, rough sleepers or vulnerable people is a plus. A DBS check will be provided for successful applicants. Volunteers must be 18 or over.

We are looking for a volunteer who is available on Mondays between 10am-2:30pm.
