The only charity in the country exclusively dedicated to providing expert and personalised support for those impacted by Huntington’s disease.

People impacted by Huntington’s disease need specialist services to cope with a severe and complex disease, the impact on families and a lack of awareness amongst health and social care providers and the wider public. Scottish Huntington’s Association is the only charity in the country exclusively dedicated to providing expert and personalised support for those impacted by Huntington’s disease. Our personalised support reduces unnecessary hospital admissions, supports carers and other family members; lowers household poverty; and alleviates wellbeing risks to children and young people living in Huntington’s families. We are commissioned by NHS Boards and Health and Social Care Partnerships throughout the country to share our expertise with front line staff and build support for improved services and higher standards of care for every family impacted by this devastating disease. Scottish Huntington’s Association plays a full and active role in attracting the global research community to Scotland to work in partnership with us to improve the lives of families impacted by Huntington’s disease. Autumn is upon us, and throughout October we've received some absolutely spooktacular support from our fundraisers across Scotland.

From dancing and skydiving to bingo nights and bungee jumps, every fundraising effort has helped make a real difference to people impacted by Huntington's disease.💙

Because of your support, people across Scotland can access the specialist care, guidance and support they need, when they need it most.💜 Thank you for being part of this incredible community and for standing alongside Huntington’s families.

🪂 Worth the wait! After being delayed by the weather since July, 14 of our incredible Team SHA skydivers finally took to the skies over two weekends, conquering their fears and taking the leap of a lifetime!

🥖 They really rose to the occasion! Kelly and her colleagues at Cromarty Bakery organised a fantastic 12-hour Danceathon bringing the community together and raising over £10,000!

🥃 Dram good fundraising! Graham, Matt, Nick and Stewart took on The Dramathon in Inverness – a marathon with a wh**ky twist. They raised a truly incredible amount of funds and awareness and rallied their community to get behind their phenomenal fundraising!

🎃 Frights, flights and fearless fundraisers! Nine of our brilliant Team SHA supporters took the plunge at our Halloween Bungee Jump! Some screamed, some were silent, some flapped like birds and others took off like professional divers! Whatever their style, they all showed incredible courage taking the leap!

🎱 Bingo, big laughs and a drag queen in Crocs! Amanda and Jackie pulled out all the stops to organise a fabulous fundraising night, complete with an incredible selection of prizes. A huge thank you to their amazing family and friends John, Dale, Emily, Clark, Kayi, Paul and Linda, who helped make the night such a success!

🪩Dancing for a difference! Christine and friends brought the community together for another fantastic night of music, and dancing in Alexandria, continuing their wonderful tradition of fundraising in honour of their friend Joanne. Special thanks to the Vale of Leven Masonic Lodge for providing the venue and boosting the fundraising total with a kind donation.

👏🏻It's a full house from us! A huge thank you to Sarah and her gran, Linda, for putting on a fantastic (sold out!) bingo night in Dundee. With more than 90 tickets sold, they truly rallied their community in support of Huntington’s families.

🎲 An introduction making a big difference! After being introduced to Scottish Huntington's Association by the Tabletop Scotland organisers, the wonderful Paul Grogan (Owner of Gaming Rules) decided to donate an entire month’s YouTube advertising revenue to our charity! What an incredibly generous gesture and a fantastic example of how one conversation can inspire something amazing!

🎲 Merchandise with a purpose! A huge thank you to Lydia the wonderful team at Genki Gear, who sold-out 50 of their fantastic custom gift packs at Tabletop Scotland and generously donated the proceeds! A brilliant way to combine creativity and kindness!

🎯 A winning move for a great cause! A huge thank you to Crokinole UK, who brought some friendly competition to Tabletop Scotland with their fantastic tournaments and generously donated the funds raised!

Thanks to everyone who has shared feedback about specialist services provided by Scottish Huntington’s Association. Your input is helping to build a clear picture for new and existing funders about the support families need and the difference it makes.
However, we are still looking for more people to have their say by completing the 2026 impact survey.
While the third sector as a whole navigates the challenges of an increasingly difficult funding environment and rising costs, Scottish Huntington’s Association continues on your behalf to present the strongest case possible to safeguard our HD Specialist Service, Youth Service and Financial Wellbeing Service.
By completing the digital questionnaire, you will help us to gather the information that funders are looking for to evidence the essential nature of these services.
When answering the questions, please think about what life would be like without the support received from Scottish Huntington’s Association, the services you have accessed, and the difference it has made to your life.
The collective responses will be shared in negotiations with statutory bodies, reports that demonstrate impact and value for money, applications to other funding bodies, and work to create new partnerships, including in the corporate sector.
They will also help us to continue important work to build support amongst key decision makers at local and national levels, including local authorities, health boards, and the Scottish Government and UK Parliament.

Our wonderful Patron Sarah Winckless MBE is leading the way again… this time by joining our Loch and Row challenge.

Sarah, an Olympic medal winner and former double World Champion rower, is facing the onset of Huntington’s disease after inheriting the faulty gene from her late mother.

Her incredible sporting achievements provided a unique platform to raise awareness around the world – and now Sarah is getting involved closer to home once again.

She hopes you will get on a rowing machine at home or in the gym to go the distance of one of Scotland’s iconic lochs – at your own pace – to help Huntington’s families.

“Loch and Row is a brilliant campaign to be part of as the days get shorter and we all have the temptation to hibernate. Anyone can get into the gym and start doing a few strokes! I know the benefit of exercising as part of a community - this virtual community will keep me going and getting fitter this winter. Join me and have fun doing it!”

But rest assured, you don’t need Olympic-level rowing skills to take part! Whether you're a complete beginner or a seasoned rower, everyone is welcome.

Registration is now open for A multidisciplinary approach to understanding Huntington’s disease, a short online undergraduate course for health, medical and social care professionals, developed and delivered in partnership with the University of Stirling.
Scottish Huntington’s Association, in line with its vision towards the best possible care and support for everyone impacted by Huntington’s disease in Scotland, is committed to raising awareness about Huntington’s disease and its impact on individuals and families.
The 12-week undergraduate course offers an opportunity for health and social care professionals to learn from both academic and frontline practice tutors, drawing on current research, practitioner expertise and lived experience to provide students with knowledge that can then be applicated in practice.
Its digital-first learning resources are aimed at both UK and international learners and the curriculum and assessment marking scheme have been developed and reviewed by the University of Stirling to ensure compliance with its standards.
“The course includes a focus on practice-based intervention, theoretical learning, ethical and legal frameworks, and learners have access to academic tutors, multi-disciplinary professionals, and those with lived experience," said Professor Louise McCabe, Professor in Dementia Studies at the University of Stirling.
“Feedback from practitioners tells us that this deeper understanding, combined with new skills, has had a significant impact on their professional practice towards providing better care to families living with Huntington’s disease and improve quality of life.”

What an adventure! ⚔️

We are absolutely thrilled to announce that our partnership with Tabletop Scotland 2026 raised an incredible £14,500+ for Scottish Huntington's Association! 🎉

As its Charity of the Year, we were given an amazing platform to introduce our cause to a whole new community. And what a community it turned out to be!

Over three unforgettable days at Edinburgh's Royal Highland Centre, thousands of adventurers joined us on a quest to defeat our fearsome dragon, Hellfire Henry, as part of our new interactive Donations & Dragons experience. 🐉🧪

But beyond the potions, dice rolls and dragon battles, something even more special was happening. Meaningful conversations with people learning about Huntington's disease for the first time, alongside emotional moments with those who have a personal connection and were delighted to see the Huntington's community at the heart of all the action.

💙 A huge thank you to the wonderful team at Tabletop Scotland for welcoming us so warmly and going above and beyond to boost fundraising even further with your Bring & Buy and tombola stalls. We're so pleased to have helped Tabletop Scotland smash the £50,000 milestone raised for charities in Scotland so far!

💙 To the incredible tabletop gaming community - thank you for embracing our slightly bonkers idea, taking on Hellfire Henry, donating so generously and helping spread awareness.

This announcement comes at a very special time for the choir which celebrated its 75th anniversary with members over the weekend.

Geoff's in the home straight now, with the finish line nearly in sight.

After cycling more than 4000 miles, including over 170,000 feat of climbing, Geoff will reach the end of his epic cycle across the USA today at 7pm.

Along the way, he has raised an amazing 5000+ including Gift Aid.

His determination to get up each morning and cycle at least 50 miles a day to help our community has been truly remarkable. As the first person to take on a coast-to-coast United States challenge in support of Scottish Huntington's Association, we thank him on behalf of Huntington's families.🚴💙
