Bobbie Lawson didn't set out to lead one of Dundee's most vital support services. Starting in community outreach and working her way up as a recovery worker, she was quietly convinced otherwise. Over recent years, she has transformed what WithYou in Dundee looks like.

When she became Service Manager, the Covid years had left the team uncertain of their direction. Bobbie hit reset, building a flexible, person-centred pathway that meets people exactly where they are.

"We're not taking anybody's hopes and dreams off the table. We're just saying, let's get you to the right place first."

The results speak for themselves. Referrals rose from 367 to 507 in a single year, and average wait times dropped from 12 days to under 7.

For Bobbie, it always comes back to people: her team, the families they serve, and the communities they support. 💙

The drug landscape has changed in recent years. 📢

Once dismissed as an 'after-party drug', Ketamine is now one of the fastest-growing substance-related harms across the UK, with serious consequences for physical health, mental wellbeing, and safeguarding, including bladder and urological damage and long-term dependency.

We've been paying attention.

We've invested in specialist training, expanded our harm reduction outreach, and deepened our understanding of ketamine use and its impacts. Most importantly, we've listened to the people we support and shaped our practice around what they need.

🪂 James, our Recovery Worker and Community Engagement Coordinator in WithYou in the Borders, completed his skydive at SkyHigh Skydiving Peterlee for WithYou last Sunday, and we couldn't be more proud.

Not only did James smash his £1,000 fundraising target, but he's also helping to raise awareness and break down the stigma around seeking support for drug and alcohol challenges. And that means just as much to us as the money raised. 💙

It's European Testing Week - and today Carrie from The Hepatitis C Trust joined us for a blood-borne virus advice session.

One of our recovery workers, Mike (pictured), had a go at a dry blood spot test - a finger prick that tests for Hep C, Hep B and HIV. Simple, quick, and free.

You don't need to currently use drugs to be at risk from Hep C. Testing takes minutes, and if it comes back positive, effective treatment is available. With the latest medication, more than 90% of people with the virus can be cured.

Meet one of our own 's, Sarah, our Team Leader at WithYou in Cornwall. 🏅

As part of the LGBTQ+ community, she grew up amid the scaremongering around AIDS and HIV, so she has a real drive and passion to make a difference in her local community.

"When I joined WithYou in 2015, I learned about bloodborne viruses in more detail, including hep B and hep C.

"Finding out that hep C was curable, and how it affected a cohort of people who were stigmatised, I realised that I could fight against the stigma, and raise awareness to bring treatment to people who needed it." says Sarah.

She quickly became a Hep C Champion for WithYou in Cornwall, working alongside her colleagues toward the micro-elimination of hep C. In partnership with the NHS ODN and Royal Cornwall Hospital Hepatology unit, she’s proud to be part of the fastest treatment pathway in Europe.

What does real progress on hepatitis C look like? This , we're proud to share that in partnership with the Hep C Providers Forum, more than half of our combined support services have micro-eliminated hepatitis C.
