The application window for RABI’s £2000 Emergency Drought Grant in South West is now closed.

Thank you to everyone who applied.

Following a significant number of applications, our team is now working through all submissions received.

📨 If you received a Unique Identifying Number (UIN) before the deadline, your application is in progress and will be processed.

The next regional Phase is Phase 2: Wales, opening Monday 14 September at 12pm.

Applications for Phase 1 of RABI’s Emergency Drought Grant are now officially closed.

Thank you to everyone who applied, shared information about the grant or helped us reach farming people affected by prolonged dry weather.

Phase 2 will open in Wales at 12pm on 14 September.

A huge thank you once again to The Hawkstone Farmers Choir for their incredibly generous £10,000 donation to RABI from their Britain's Got Talent winnings. ❤️🎶

It was great to catch up with the Choir again on Friday, and lovely to chat with Katryna Shell and the full Shell family! Special shout-out to George – keep rocking that hat at school! 🧢🚜

The Choir have been fantastic advocates of RABI, most recently taking part in our mental health awareness training, and we’re hugely grateful for their continued support.

What would you do in the first crucial minutes after a serious farm accident?

We’ll be at the Westmorland County Show on 9–10 September, and on Wednesday 9 September at 11:30am we’re hosting an interactive FarmersAid seminar exploring what happens when something goes wrong on farm — and how the right knowledge and preparation can make a vital difference.

Joining the session will be:

Applications for RABI’s £2,000 emergency drought grant opens next week, starting with the South West on 7 September.

The grants are available to eligible farm owners and tenant farmers whose principal farming business is in an area officially designated as being in drought.

📍 Applications open at 12 noon on:

7 September: South West
14 September: Wales
21 September: South East
28 September: East
5 October: Midlands

The grant is designed to provide rapid financial support towards personal and household expenditure where drought-related pressures have contributed to financial pressure.

Each regional phase has an allocated amount of funding and may close earlier if that funding is fully committed.

This September, Charli Hicks and her angels will take on the 102 mile Cotswold Way in under 24 hours, raising funds for RABI in memory of her dad, Edward.

Edward was well known for bringing people together and supporting those around him, and was closely involved with the Moreton Show for many years.

Following his death last year, Charli created Edward’s Way to celebrate his life and raise £10,000 for RABI.

Starting in Bath at 1pm on Saturday 12 September, Charli and her team will take on the full Cotswold Way, aiming to complete the route by Sunday 13 September.

As well as raising vital funds, Charli hopes the challenge will encourage more conversations about mental wellbeing and the importance of reaching out for support within farming communities.

Funds raised will help RABI continue providing practical, financial and emotional support to farming people across England and Wales.

🔊 Turn the sound on to hear Sally-Ann, a member of the Hawkstone Farmers Choir, reflect on taking part in RABI Mental Health Training.

Sixteen members of The Hawkstone Farmers Choir recently completed RABI’s accredited mental health training at The Royal Agricultural University in Cirencester, becoming Mental Health First Aiders.

The training gave members practical tools to recognise the signs and symptoms of poor mental health, start supportive conversations and help others access appropriate support.

RABI’s mental health training is designed specifically for farming people, helping to strengthen understanding and support across the farming community.

And that support doesn’t end when the training does. Every RABI trainee can access professional counsellors for up to two years afterwards, providing guidance and support when difficult conversations happen.

RABI funds the cost of mental health training for farming people, helping to make sure cost is never a barrier.

RABI is committing £2 million in direct financial support through Emergency Drought Grants for farming households experiencing personal financial pressures as a result of the drought.

From September, £2,000 grants will be available to eligible farm owners and tenant farmers whose principal farming business is in an area officially designated as being in drought.

📍 Up to £400,000 in grants will be available in each of five regional waves, with applications opening on:

7 September: South West, 12pm

14 September: Wales, 12pm

21 September: South East, 12pm

28 September: East, 12pm

5 October: Midlands, 12pm

Months of low rainfall and prolonged dry conditions are creating significant pressures, from reduced grazing and increased feed and water costs to restricted irrigation and lower yields.

The grant is designed to provide rapid financial support towards personal and household expenditure where drought-related pressures have contributed to financial pressures.

Applications begin opening by region from 7 September 2026.

We will review the Environment Agency’s official drought classifications before each phase opens so that any newly designated drought areas can be included. Areas experiencing prolonged dry weather that have not been formally designated as being in drought are not currently eligible.
