In just 14 days, we’ll be welcoming you all to Watlington Hill Farm Sanctuary for Rooted Festival 2026 💚✨

As we count down to the big weekend, we’re proud to be partnering with Oxford Food Hub to help reduce waste and make Rooted as sustainable as possible 🌍

Any surplus food and food waste from the festival will be collected and repurposed by Oxford Food Hub, helping ensure that good food goes to good use 👏💚

From the venue and traders to our partners and community, we’re committed to creating a festival that treads a little lighter while bringing people together for an unforgettable weekend 🌱

Oxford Food Hub is on tour this summer! 🎉
We’re kicking things off at Download Festival this weekend, then heading over to Kordia Events Rooted festival, next up 2000 Trees Festival, TRUCK FESTIVAL, Wilderness Festival, Bloodstock Festival and wrapping up with The Big Feastival and Reading Festival (Reading and Leeds Festival ) - all in one incredible summer! 🌞🎪

At each stop, our amazing volunteers partner with festival vendors to collect surplus food. All the food we collect is brought back to our warehouses and redistributed to over 250 charities and community groups across Oxfordshire. That means less waste, more meals, and more support for those who need it most. It’s a win-win for people and the planet. 🌍🙌

🍏 Monthly Weigh-ins 🍏

In May, we saved around 52.3 tonnes of surplus food! To put this month into context, that’s roughly 118,863 meals 🍽️*, about the weight of 32 Narwhals, or around 20 Oxford Food Hub vans! 🥕

⏱️This is a freelance opportunity until November 2026

Great Big Green Week kicks off on June 6th (6th-14th), the UK’s biggest celebration of community action to tackle climate change and protect nature.

Alongside our WISH partners we’ll be celebrating on Saturday 13th June from 10am - 1.30pm with our Great Big Green Week Finale!

Join us for our plant-based cafe, insect ID-ing, art and craft activities with Art-K Oxford, badge-making, a surplus food pop up and more alongside our usual community volunteering session and our produce market.

If the weather’s looking iffy just don your wellies, grab a brolly and come and celebrate the amazing community action that yourselves, us and our WISH partners are involved in 🙌

To kick off Volunteers’ Week, we wanted to shine a light on the 102 volunteers at Oxford Food Hub. Our volunteers are utterly amazing. They’re the people collecting, sorting and getting tonnes of surplus food where it’s needed, six days a week.
Last month alone, they contributed 894 hours of their time. Thank you so much for your impact and for making Oxford Food Hub possible.

We hope you’ve had a lovely sunny week and stayed safe in the heat.

We’re summer‑ready at Oxford Food Hub! We are full of BBQ essentials, shown by Gattor, our new warehouse assistant! In this heat we have to work even faster to stop food going to waste. Most of these items have already been redistributed to the 250+ charities and community groups we support. A massive thank you to our amazing volunteers and operations team for making this possible!
