When a girl has the opportunity to learn, the impact reaches far beyond the classroom.

Education gives her knowledge, skills and choices for her future. It strengthens families and helps build stronger, more resilient communities.

Girls’ education is about more than access to learning. It is about creating the opportunity for every girl to shape her own future, and for every community to benefit from her potential.

Everyone empowered by education. 🌍

Today on , we’re celebrating the teachers who help make education possible, and the opportunities that enable them to keep learning and developing their skills.

Supported by the All Saints Educational Trust and funds raised through WTI’s 2025 Big Give campaign, 15 teachers in Hargeisa are taking part in a first-of-its-kind "Diploma to Degree" pathway, enabling them to build on their existing qualifications and progress towards a Bachelor’s degree in Education. 🎓

Very proud to launch our new offline-first digital learning platform for Accelerated Secondary Education Programme (ASEP), in partnership with Ministry of General Education and Instruction, Republic of South Sudan and education technology partner Beekee.

Designed around the realities of learning in South Sudan, the platform allows learners to access digital education without needing constant internet or grid electricity. Learning materials, teacher resources, and assessments are stored locally on solar-powered Beekee Boxes. 🛜

On this year's , we look at how peacebuilding can start in the classroom. 🏫

Across four states in South Sudan, school peace clubs are helping children develop the skills to resolve conflict, build relationships and promote respect in their schools and communities.

Through our partnership with UNICEF and KfW Bankengruppe, 111 peace club facilitators have been trained and now support more than 2,600 peace club members through activities including debates, community dialogues, drama, music and poetry.

As a new academic year begins, we’re shining a spotlight on where education can lead, starting with WTI alumni changemaker: Sarah Rachael Akello.

Since completing her postgraduate studies at the University of Leeds, Sarah is using her expertise in public health and infectious disease epidemiology to strengthen health systems and support communities across Uganda.

Reflecting on her journey, Sarah says:

💬 “The scholarship did not simply fund my education; it empowered me to become a leader capable of creating positive change.”

As the academic year draws to a close and dissertation deadlines approach, this year's cohort of WTI postgraduate scholars joined us in Oxfordshire for our Summer Student Conference. 🎓

Over three days, students studying at universities across the UK came together to reflect on their studies and prepare for life after graduation through a range of skills-based workshops.

We are so excited to see our scholars take the next steps in their journeys, using their skills and experience to create positive change in their communities and beyond. 🌍 ✨
