Emmaus Oxford

Emmaus Oxford Emmaus Oxford supports people out of homelessness and sells quality pre-loved items to fund its work. We collect and deliver donated goods.

Visit one of Oxford's largest charity shops at 242 Barns Road, Cowley, Oxford, OX43RQ. Emmaus Oxford helps men and women move on from homelessness by providing safe accommodation for up to 28 companions at any one time. Our companions work full-time at our store, repairing, restoring and upcycling items, helping with deliveries and selling the donated items. This work supports our Emmaus community

financially and enables residents to develop skills, rebuild their self-respect and help others in greater need. Helping others is key to the ethos of Emmaus. Companions receive accommodation, food, clothing and a small weekly allowance, but for many, the greatest benefit is a fresh start. To join an Emmaus community, they sign off unemployment benefits and agree to participate in the life and work of the community to the best of their abilities. Emmaus is a secular movement, spanning 36 countries, with 29 communities in the UK. Each community aims to become self-sufficient, with any surplus donated to others in need.

πŸ›‹οΈ Help Turn Empty Houses into Homes

Furniture poverty often means that people and families have to go without the essentials or fall into debt just to make a house liveable.

At Emmaus Oxford, our Resettlement Support initiative has already provided essential furniture and household items to more than 380 individuals and families across Oxfordshire, but the need continues to grow.

We urgently need donations of good-quality furniture and white goods to help people create a safe and comfortable home.

You can support us by:
πŸ’š Donating good-quality second-hand items
πŸ›’ Shopping in our store
πŸ™Œ Volunteering with our community

We can collect donations from your home or business FOR FREE, or you can drop them off at our store.

A huge thank you to our talented companion, Lisa, for creating these eight beautiful handmade frames for our incredible London Marathon runners. πŸ’šπŸƒβ€β™€οΈ

Each frame was made from scratch and represents hours of hard work, patience and care. They are on their way to the amazing people who ran the London Marathon in April as a heartfelt thank you for raising vital funds to support Emmaus.

We think they look absolutely incredible, and we hope our runners will love them just as much as we do. πŸ’š

Thank you, Lisa, for sharing your creativity and kindness, and thank you to all of our marathon runners for going the extra mile to help people overcome homelessness. πŸ‘
