💡 Can you redesign an everyday task?
Here’s a challenge for Dyslexia Awareness Week:
Think about something you do regularly.
Maybe it’s:
📝 filling in a form
📚 following instructions
🛒 making a shopping list
🚌 finding your way somewhere
💻 completing an online task
🏫 getting ready for school
Now ask yourself:
“How could I make this clearer or easier to navigate for more people?”
Could you:
🔹 add pictures?
🔹 break it into smaller steps?
🔹 give people more time?
🔹 offer a choice of ways to complete it?
🔹 explain it in a different way?
Accessibility isn’t about making things easier for everyone in exactly the same way.

It’s about removing unnecessary barriers.
What would you redesign? Tell us in the comments! 👇

❤️ Let’s challenge a few assumptions about dyslexia.
Dyslexia doesn’t look the same for everyone — so simple statements about what dyslexic people are “like” can be unhelpful.
Instead of:
❌ “They just need to try harder.”
Try:
✅ “What could make this task clearer or more accessible?”
Instead of:
❌ “All dyslexic people are creative.”
Remember:
✅ Everyone has their own pattern of strengths and challenges.
And instead of thinking support means someone isn’t capable, remember:
✅ A person can be good at something and still need support.
This Dyslexia Awareness Week, let’s replace assumptions with understanding. ❤️

📚 Dyslexia is about more than reading and spelling.
Dyslexia can affect people in different ways.
It can influence how someone:
🧠 remembers information
📋 organises tasks
💬 communicates
⏳ processes information
✏️ reads and spells
🌱 feels confident when tackling certain tasks
But there is no single dyslexic experience.
One person may find a particular task difficult while another person finds it straightforward.
That’s why it’s important to listen, ask what helps and avoid assumptions.
Different people need different tools, explanations and amounts of time.

🛠️ 5 simple tools that can help
Sometimes a small change can make a task clearer or more manageable.
Here are five examples from our Dyslexia Awareness Week activity pack:
📋 Use a checklist
Break a task into clear steps.
🖼️ Use pictures or visual instructions
A visual prompt can make information easier to navigate.
⏰ Allow extra thinking time
Not everyone processes information at the same speed.
🎧 Work somewhere calm
Reducing distractions can help some people focus.
📱 Use helpful technology
Technology can provide another way to access information or communicate.
Different people will find different tools useful — and that’s completely OK.
What tool helps you?

🧰 What’s in your everyday toolkit?
We all use tools to help us get through the day.
A calendar.
A phone reminder.
A shopping list.
Headphones.
A timer.
A notebook.
A quiet space.
Someone talking an idea through with us.
For someone with dyslexia, tools and adjustments can make everyday tasks more manageable — whether that’s learning, remembering, communicating, organising or feeling confident.
There is no single “right” way to get something done.
This Dyslexia Awareness Week, why not think about your own everyday toolkit? What helps you?
And remember: using a tool isn’t cheating. It’s a sensible way to remove a barrier. ❤️

💙 Dyslexia Awareness Week 2026 starts today!

This week, we’re thinking about what dyslexia can look like in real life — at school, at work and in everyday situations. Dyslexia is a learning difference. It can affect reading and spelling, but it can also affect how someone remembers, organises or processes information. And importantly, no two dyslexic people are exactly the same.
That’s why this week we’re sharing practical ideas, useful tools and simple ways we can make things more accessible for different minds. Because needing a tool or adjustment isn’t an unfair advantage. It can help someone take part, learn and show what they can do.
