We build thriving communities through effective philanthropy, giving around £2 million annually to tackle priority issues. Oxfordshire Community Foundation (OCF) improves lives and tackles inequality by investing in Oxfordshire's dynamic charitable sector. Our county’s wealth, success and beauty hide a number of serious and shocking social problems. Local philanthropists choose to work with OCF be

cause we bring an in-depth understanding of these needs and priority issues, alongside trusted relationships with our network of grassroots delivery charities and community groups. We champion this vibrant local charity sector as a crucial way to combat issues such as unaffordable essentials, poor health, loneliness and fear, and lack of opportunity, awarding around £2 million in grants annually. We work with philanthropists, businesses and the public sector, pooling their funds so that they can make a bigger difference together. Funders can feel confident of a safe pair of hands for their contributions, as we implement strong governance processes; conduct thorough due diligence on all grant applications; and report back with inspiring stories on the impact of their support. We have been working in Oxfordshire since 1995, and are part of the UK network of 47 quality-accredited community foundations.

Last week we held our summer celebration event in the stunning surroundings of Broughton Castle near Banbury.

We were delighted to welcome nearly 100 of our wonderful donors, supporters and volunteers as we thanked them for their commitment to OCF, enabling us to deliver vital support to local grassroots charities.

Guests were treated to delicious canapés from Waste2Taste • Oxford and sparkling wine from Bridewell Gardens: Mental Health Recovery - both are local social enterprises that work incredibly hard to improve the lives of the people they support, and have received funding from OCF.

None of this would have been possible without the generous support of Wise Investment who truly understand the value that grassroots charities bring to their communities.

Thank you for everyone that could join us for this really special afternoon!

OCF brings together grantees and funders for shared learning 🫶

Our innovative Thriving in Nature Fund, now in its third year, gave us the opportunity to bring together grantees and funders from the previous two grants rounds for a day of learning, discussion and connection.

In the beautiful setting of Asthall Manor representatives of charitable organisations shared how funding is being used, how projects are developing over time, and the changes they are seeing in the people they support.

Shabnam from Sunrise Multicultural Project in Banbury shared:

🗣️ “Our outdoor trips have been a key highlight. We had a visit to Wendover Woods which brought together 48 participants. For many of those people, it’s basically the first time they’ve ever accessed that sort of natural outdoor space.”

We also heard from funders - individuals, trusts and businesses - about why they chose to support the Thriving in Nature Fund. As well as a donor into the fund, we are hugely grateful to RWK Goodman for sponsoring the event.
