We were delighted to attend the Family Law Week Private Children Law Conference as its chosen charity partner.

The conference brought together family-law professionals from across the country to consider some of the most important issues currently affecting private children law.

For SPPD, it was a valuable opportunity to raise awareness of the support available to separated parents and to speak with professionals about the importance of helping families access trusted, quality-assured programmes at an early stage.

A huge thank you to Family Law Week for supporting SPPD through the conference charity raffle, and to everyone who bought a ticket.

A further thank you to Adele Ballantyne of Adele Ballantyne and James Evans for doing such a brilliant job representing SPPD at the conference.

As a small charity run entirely by volunteers, this support and visibility make a genuine difference to our work. Thank you for having us.

Introducing Co-Parenting with Care, now listed on SPPD.

Delivered by Families Connected, this practical course supports separated and separating parents to focus on what matters most: their children.

The programme helps parents understand how conflict can affect children, communicate more effectively, manage strong emotions and triggers, and develop consistent, child-centred parenting arrangements.

It also covers new partners, changing routines and other family transitions.

Sessions are available with or without the other parent, including private one-to-one support. Prices start from £50, with help to pay available.

A tense message can make you want to defend yourself, correct every accusation or respond in the same tone.

Before replying, pause and ask:

What is the practical question I actually need to answer?

Respond only to the arrangements or information your child needs. Keep it brief, factual and calm. You do not have to engage with every criticism simply because it was included in the message.

Eight months old. Volunteer-led. And now a Family Law Awards finalist! 🏆

SPPD has been shortlisted for the Access to Justice/Social Impact Award at the LexisNexis Family Law Awards 2026.

We created SPPD so separating parents could find trusted, quality-assured support more easily - before conflict becomes entrenched and families reach breaking point.

For our small charity to receive this recognition in its very first year feels rather special.

Introducing The Freedom Care Separated Parents Information Programme (SPIP), now listed on SPPD. Freedom Care Group

Delivered by Freedom Care Group, the programme supports separated parents to move from conflict towards healthier, child-focused co-parenting.

Using a relationship-first and trauma-informed approach, SPIP helps parents understand how separation and parental conflict can affect children emotionally and behaviourally. It also supports parents to reflect on patterns of interaction, develop self-regulation skills and communicate more constructively, including in high-conflict situations.

The programme is delivered by experienced social workers and family practitioners, with particular experience supporting families affected by autism, learning disabilities, mental health needs and ADHD.

It can also be combined with further family coaching and life story work, depending on the family’s needs.
