In the two decades since, we have developed a global network of grantee partners and a worldwide charitable infrastructure. All the organisations we fund use sport as a tool or intervention to combat violence, discrimination and disadvantage faced by young people. Everyone at Laureus is saddened by the passing of world-renowned mountaineer and friend of Laureus Nirmal Purja, following an avalanche on Pakistanโ€™s Broad Peak.

In 2019, Nirmal made history after climbing all of the worldโ€™s 14 peaks over 8,000 metres in just over six months.

Our thoughts are with Nirmalโ€™s family and friends, and those of all climbers who lost their lives on the mountain.
