Laureus was give its mission by Nelson Mandela over 20 years ago, when he addressed the inaugural Laureus World Sports Awards in Monaco with a declaration which has become the cornerstone of Laureusโ€™ work: โ€œSport has th

e power to change the world.โ€

In the two decades since, we have developed a global network of grantee partners and a worldwide charitable infrastructure. All the organisations we fund use sport as a tool or intervention to combat violence, discrimination and disadvantage faced by young people.
