Have you seen the benefits of returning to familiar stories again and again? Let us know in the comments!

🤩 What if we told you that staying in your PJs all day could win you an amazing prize...

On 12th June, thousands of children all around the country will spend the day enjoying stories in their pyjamas - raising vital funds so every child has access to a story at bedtime.

And if you register your school or early years setting for and pay in your fundraising by 6th July, you’ll be entered into a prize draw to win a bespoke reading corner!

Bookspark is all about getting students in Key Stage 3 excited about reading. So we had to ask the queen of comedy-horror - what is it that makes scary stories so irresistible?

As comes to an end, we're sharing our recommendations of picture books that can support a sense of belonging in children ❤️

The list has been put together by BookTrust experts in collaboration with Dr Lisa Cherry to make sure these books are suitable for children in foster care, kinship care and adoption. They are:

⭐ The Perfect Fit by Naomi Jones and James Jones: Ideal for beginning conversations about identity, fitting in and friendship.

⭐ All Kinds of Families by Sophy Henn: A non-fiction book showcasing different family structures using animal families.

⭐ Milo and the Mountain by Jamie Carroll: An empowering story about being helped by your community.

⭐ I Really Really Don’t Like Parties by Angie Morgan: A reassuring story showing that it’s OK to enjoy doing different things.

⭐ I’m (Mostly) Happy Being Me by Anna Milbourne and Åsa Gilland: A story that celebrates individual strengths.

⭐ Squirrel’s Search for Love by Dr Lisa Cherry and Fiona Holiday: Perfect for conversations about grief and loss.
