MCC Foundation

MCC Foundation LEBANON
In Lebanon, MCCF supports the NGO, Alsama Project, funding several
of its Cricket Hubs for Syrian refugees from encampments in and around
Beirut.

We deliver cricket projects across the UK and around the world, providing free coaching and match play to young players from under-served communities, and empowering all boys and girls to reach their full potential in the game. Charity Number: 1019171

ACROSS THE UK...
We run a nationwide network of Hubs empowering promising youngsters
from under-served communities to develop their hard-ball skill

s, join cricket
clubs and access the talent pathway. The Hubs help those who have been engaged through non-traditional formats or mass participation initiatives to transition into the formal cricketing structures and build a longterm love of the game. WHAT IS A MCCF HUB?
• An MCCF Hub is a free-to-access
cricket training centre
• 10 weeks of high-quality hardball
winter coaching
• Locations across England, Wales,
Scotland and Northern Ireland
• Available exclusively to state school
players aged 11-16
• Offering opportunity to thousands
of talented girls and boys each year
• Experienced male and female
coaches and mentors
• Access to holistic support (known
as our “Cricket+” programme)
- Supplementing development
beyond cricket
- Support for mental and
physical wellbeing and basic
personal finance

AROUND THE WORLD...
Overseas, we work with partners to provide life-changing opportunities
by harnessing the transformative power of cricket and the MCC brand
to open up access to the game. The children receive year-round coaching and match play which
provides them with welcome relief from the hardships they face and
much needed joy. NEPAL
There is huge passion for cricket across Nepal, but a lack of investment
and infrastructure. We are nurturing the next generation of cricketers
by taking cricket into schools and communities. With a focus on
empowering women and girls, we are using the game as a tool to tackle
harmful gender norms. SRI LANKA
Talent is universal but opportunity is not, and access to high-quality
cricket in Sri Lanka is often the preserve of those in the major cities. We work with partners to provide scholarships to girls from rural
communities, enabling their development. Many have gone on to play
for the Sri Lanka national team. EAST AFRICA
Our projects in Rwanda, Uganda, and Kenya are making an incredible
impact with thousands of young people engaged on our programmes. We are helping these countries to bridge the gap between softball
cricket and the talent pathway, supporting the National Cricket
Associations in the region. SOUTH AFRICA
MCCF supports a Women’s Empowerment Programme for girls from
townships around Cape Town. Bringing together hundreds of female
players from these communities, the programme is providing individuals
with access to high-quality cricket coaching and a life-skills programme.

What a fantastic day in Mumbai! As part of our Cricket Unites initiative, which uses cricket to support young people in seven countries worldwide, over 100 girls from our MCCF Hubs in India are taking part in a festival of cricket at the famous Brabourne Stadium.

With support from Barclays and our delivery partners, OSCAR and The Right Pitch, we are providing free access to cricket for young girls across six cricket hubs in Mumbai and Pune.

Today alone, MCCF is delivering free coaching sessions for young women in 29 Hubs across the UK, supporting projects in seven different countries and bringing cricket to thousands. This does not just happen today: this happens every day.

As we mark International Women’s Day, we can reflect on the joy and the opportunities that cricket brings young girls around the world. We also reiterate our backing for Pitch Our Future. We celebrate and support the work being done to help Afghanistan’s female cricketers who have had to flee their homeland. We look forward to updating with more information on our support for Pitch Our Future soon.

Not only does the MCCF Hub Programme offer free access to cricket, it also provides talented youngsters with a pathway to progress into County Age Group squads.

We were delighted to speak to new Glamorgan spinner Romano Franco who graduated from our Wrexham Hub, where he developed his skills and made lasting friendships on his way to becoming a professional cricketer.
