An enormous thank you to Ben Greg, who ran the Chelmsford Marathon on the 11th of October 🏅

Ben’s partner Ellie has been living with Long Covid since 2023, and they both want to help raise awareness of the issue and help tackle the misinformation online by supporting organisations like Long Covid UK, which work to get out accurate public health messaging and engage in meaningful research.

You can still donate to Ben’s fundraiser by following the link below: https://www.justgiving.com/page/ben-greg-lcs?utm_medium=FR&utm_source=CL

Following the EGM on Tuesday 20 October 2026, we are pleased to announce that Bambos Charalambous MP has been elected as Chair of the All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) on Long Covid.

From Bambos Charalambous MP -

“I’m delighted to have been elected Chair of the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Long Covid, and excited to take on this role as we continue the journey towards making a real difference for people living with Long Covid.

I’d like to pay tribute to Jo Platt MP for her work and commitment as Chair, and I look forward to building on the important work already undertaken by the APPG.

Despite the impact Long Covid has on individuals, families and communities across the country, far too many people continue to face challenges in getting the recognition, support and care they need. I’m determined to work with colleagues across Parliament, Long Covid UK and the wider community to keep Long Covid firmly on the political agenda, push for meaningful progress and ensure that the voices of those affected are heard. We must not allow people living with Long Covid to be forgotten.”

From Nigel Rothband, Chair, Long Covid UK -

“I’m delighted to welcome Bambos Charalambous MP as the new Chair of the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Long Covid. I’d also like to thank Jo Platt MP for her leadership, commitment and tireless work as Chair.

I look forward to supporting Bambos in his new role and continuing to work with colleagues across Parliament, researchers, clinicians, charities and the wider Long Covid community. By bringing together expertise and lived experience, we can help ensure that policy and decision-making reflect the realities faced by people living with Long Covid.

The challenges remain significant, from improving diagnosis and access to care to strengthening research and long-term support. I will continue to advocate for sustained attention and action, so that people affected by Long Covid are not overlooked and can access the help they need.”

Information about the APPG can be found here: https://www.longcovid.org/appg
Minutes of the meeting will be provided soon.

Last weekend, 16 members of the Hollinghurst and Hole families set off on their annual family fundraising walk. This year, they very kindly decided to raise money for Long Covid UK as a member of their family has been impacted by the illness.

As part of our campaign, we have been really keen to get more friends and families of those with Long Covid involved in fundraising activities. This is the perfect example of the power of communities coming together to show their support. 💙

The family has raised an incredible £ 2,864, including Gift Aid, which will go a long way. Can we get them over the £3000 line by the end of the week? If you would like to contribute to the campaign, please follow the link below.

If your family is feeling inspired, you can check out the fundraising section on our website or email [email protected] to get started.

Thank you so much to everyone involved, and we hope you’re not feeling too sore! 🙏
