A wonderful evening of the music and memories of the great Joseph Horovitz of blessed memory. Joseph was one of the great computers of the 20th century and a proud and loyal New Londoner, may his memory always be for a blessing.

An important and packed rally against antisemitism event today in Central London.

Congratulations to the and .uk for organising.
And to and
For keeping us safe.

Particular thanks to all the allies who were there. Scroll through for the pic (biggest cheer of the day) and Rev from with a number of Christian ministers. Also spotted .

A couple of idiots failed to spoil the mood of committed, patriotic pride and determination.

I was particularly taken by this line from Rabbi Baginsky
"The opposite of antisemitism is not only security. It is the ability
to live openly and confidently in the country that is our home. The opposite of antisemitism is belonging."

Anyone in the mood for some good music?

We (the synagogue I serve) are hosting Sharqia on Sunday night, 10th May, 7pm for an evening of Middle Eastern grooves, featuring the Jewish music of the Middle East and North Africa.

Led by flautist and saxophonist extraordinaire Ofer Peled, Sharqia are amazing.

Statement on the Attack in Golders Green

The news of the attack in Golders Green came as we were attending the Senior Faith in Leadership Programme.

We share prayers for healing for the injured.

We are outraged at the attack.

We stand together in opposition to this antisemitic act of violence.

We continue to hope.

We continue to work to build a world of peace for us all.

A moving and warm hearted commemoration of Yom HaZikaron and Yom HaAtzmaut at New London Synagogue last night.

We gathered to share prayers and mourn the sacrifices of soldiers and victims of terror and take pride at Israel's survival and achievements, even despite everything, despite the complexities and failures and brokeness of that relationship.

Alongside the members and friends gathered, we were honoured to welcome a delegation from Noam Israel and video contributions from former Foreign Minister, Tzipi Livni, MK Rabbi Gilad Kariv, Rabbi Mijael Even David, from the Masorti community of Be'er Sheva, damaged by an Iranian missile and still standing strong and Rabbi Idit Lev from Haifa and the Rabbinical Assembly.

It was also deeply moving to receive a video message from our member Baruch Gad, Yahgozie.

The highlights were however musical. David Djemal was joined by Chen Reiss, Shira Kravitz and Marc Verter to share songs of poignancy and hope.

In the words of Leah Goldberg's Haomnam, it is מותר לאהוב, acceptable to love.

May peace come, security and success to all the land's inhabitants, regardless of religion and nationality. May nation not lift up sword against nation.

Happy birthday Israel

A sensational and moving evening at New London.
Adampol survivor Hannah Lewis spoke beautifully.
Professor Melissa Raphael shared magnificently and the music and liturgy served and evening of memory, pain, resilience and even ... love perfectly.

Thank you all
