💼 Salary: £38,042 per annum (pro rata)

You could be opening and managing a new LGBTQ+ supported housing service, providing safe accommodation and support for six young people aged 18–21! The role includes overseeing the day-to-day service and supporting young people throughout the week and is based onsite in Lambeth, London

WIN £200 TO SPEND AT M&S 🤑

akt needs your help to reach more people - the people who need us and our services, as well as people who might be able to support the work we do. We've put together a brand survey asking you whether you've heard of akt, what you think are some of the challenges right now for LGBTQ+ people, and what you'd like to see from a charity like ours. You don't need to know about akt beforehand or be LGBTQ+ to take this survey and you can remain anonymous if you wish!

As a thank you, one lucky winner will receive a £200 voucher to spend at M&S*, one of akt's charity partners (did you know you can set akt as your chosen charity if you shop with a Sparks card?). To be eligible, make sure you complete our survey by midnight on 8th October 2026!

We're proud to introduce the incredibly talented musician, Avis (they/them).

Avis grew up in musical theatre, now songwriting, and singing at open mics alongside their degree and elected role in their Student's Union. They have performed at events and venues such as Exeter Pride, Exeter Phoenix and Harlow Playhouse.

Avis will be performing on Sunday alongside the phenominal Martha D'Arthur on the community stage on Sunday at 2:45pm!

Manchester is where akt began. From the legacy of Albert Kennedy to the work we do today, this community has always been at the heart of who we are.🐝💜

But while so much has changed, we still need our community to show up: and now more than ever.

Cath Hall founded akt believing that, one day, LGBTQ+ young people wouldn’t be made homeless simply for being themselves. Sadly, that day hasn’t come yet.

❗1 in 4 young LGBTQ+ people will still experience homelessness.

So today as we celebrate Pride, we’re asking our Manchester family to turn pride into action.

This weekend, join akt at Manchester Village Pride. Let's celebrate our community and show LGBTQ+ young people that they’re not alone.

Together we can make sure no young LGBTQ+ person misses out on that feeling of being seen, supported and celebrated this pride.💗

👉 £44 can help a young LGBTQ+ person access safe housing and support.
👉 £70 can help us safely take a young LGBTQ+ person to Pride and make sure they have support throughout the day.

akt & Matt Jameson are proud to be standing together for LGBTQ+ young people, and this weekend you can join us too!

Pride reminds us what’s possible when we come together. But for LGBTQ+ young people facing homelessness or unsafe housing, that support is needed all year round.

🏠 Because 1 in 4 (26%) LGBTQ+ young people have experienced hidden homelessness
🏳️‍🌈 LGBTQ+ young people are twice as likely to experience hidden homelessness
🏳️‍⚧️ And 1 in 3 trans young people have experienced hidden homelessness.

But together, we can change that.

This weekend, join akt and Matt at Manchester Village Pride. Let's celebrate our community and show LGBTQ+ young people that they’re not alone.

Because Pride doesn’t end when the flags come down. Neither should our support.

akt welcomes today's announcement from Prime Minister Andy Burnham of the Rough Sleeping Programme to end rough sleeping this Christmas. We're particularly encouraged by the inclusion of LGBTQ+ people in the guidance, acknowledging the unique challenges that both LGBTQ+ people and young people face that increase their risk of homelessness and make them less visible, creating additional barriers to long-term solutions.

We are encouraged to see these bold commitments and want to see them delivered; and while Christmas is an ambitious deadline, it's when many people in our community need us most and would be the perfect gift that could transform lives for the better.
