✨ Reflection from Today’s Shaah & Sheeko Session ✨
Today’s session was truly something special. We shared, we listened, and we reflected and every single person walked away with something meaningful.
There’s something powerful about being in a space where there is no judgment. A space where voices are heard, stories are respected, and people feel safe to be themselves. These are the kinds of spaces that heal, that connect, and that remind us we’re not alone. And today was a reminder of just how necessary and valuable they are.
Grateful for every voice, every story, and every moment shared.

Shaah & Sheeko! Today felt like more than just a gathering thank you, it felt like a reminder of how important it is to come together in safe spaces.
We sat, we talked, we shared openly and honestly about mental health. No shame, no judgment. Just real people, real stories, and real moments.
It hits differently when you hear someone who looks like you, lives like you, and understands your world speak their truth. Somehow, it makes everything feel a little lighter.
Today we listened.
Today we connected.
And in our own way, today we healed together.
We all have mental health. And we all deserve to be heard.

Our Shaah & Sheeko session on Thursday was 🔥

We’re so grateful to everyone who showed up, shared, and held space for honest conversations about health inequality and what it really looks like in our communities.

When you don’t have the language to describe your somatic symptoms, and no one takes the time to understand or doesn’t even try you begin to disengage from the very services meant to support you.

Too often, people are left suffering in silence in spaces that don’t see or hear them.

That’s why creating safe, inclusive spaces is so important. Spaces where people can find the language for their experiences, feel validated, and know they are valued.

At HEALTOGETHER CIC, we are committed to creating that safe space for our community. Through our health awareness events, we support people in finding the words to describe their symptoms and experiences because being understood is a vital part of healing.

Health advocacy must center communities who express wellbeing through somatic experiences.

Their voices deserve to be heard.

Today’s Shaah & Sheeko session was filled with hope and connection. We’re so grateful for this safe space where authenticity can flourish and our community can come together to learn, let go, and heal.
“Iskaashato makufto” today, we truly unpacked and lived this powerful message.
We also extend our sincere thanks to the candidates standing to represent our borough, for taking the time to listen, engage, and value the voices and experiences shared in this space.
A special thank you to Maryan for the energising fitness session, to Hoda for facilitating such a meaningful Q&A, and to all our participants who continue to show up, share, and uplift one another.

Today’s Shaah & Sheeko session was truly special 🤍
We came together for a beautiful blend of fitness, meditation, somatic exercises, and breathwork, all designed to support healthier, more balanced lives for our amazing participants. We are so grateful to hold this space, and even more grateful for the community who shows up each week and keeps us grounded.
This marks our second week running health awareness sessions, where we’ve been having open and important conversations around Kidney Disease, Diabetes, Hypertension, and Menopause. It’s been powerful to see so many of our participants take action reaching out to their healthcare providers and prioritising prevention.
One story that really stayed with us was from a participant who, after visiting her GP, was diagnosed with stage 3 kidney disease. It’s a reminder of just how vital community awareness and early action truly are.
Together, we continue to learn, support, and uplift one another.

Yesterday’s Shaah & Sheeko session was another uplifting and impactful gathering for our community. Alongside our usual activities, including a 1-hour suitable exercise and somatic workout with our Somali fitness instructor Maryan whom we are so grateful to have, and calming breathwork to help reduce stress, we also hosted a dedicated Health Awareness session. This Thursday, we focused on kidney disease awareness, providing our participants with valuable knowledge to better understand prevention, early signs, and overall kidney health. The session was both insightful and empowering, sparking meaningful conversations and reflections. We were proud to utilise Kidney Research UK’s “Get Kidney Fit” guide, which helped us deliver clear and practical information to our community. We are truly grateful for such resources that support us in raising awareness and promoting healthier lives. A big thank you to North East London Health & Care Partnership for their continued support in helping us bring these important conversations to our community.

First Shaah & Sheeko of the new year, and our hearts are full. We began with duas, asking Allah to place baraka in our intentions and holding space for one another. We revisited our group ground rules, reminding ourselves of the safe and sacred space we’ve built together and our shared responsibility to protect it. Maryan (may Allah bless her) guided us through a nourishing session of fitness & wellbeing. Followed by somatic movement, meditation, and gratitude allowing us to reconnect with our bodies and breathe with presence. We closed with nearly an hour of Somali traditional dancing, warming our hearts, lifting our spirits, and reconnecting us to our roots, culture and identity. A beautiful beginning to the year grounded in faith, community, and remembrance. Alḥamdulillah 🤲🏿
