The Hackney Foodbank Providing emergency food parcels in times of need.

Hackney Foodbank provides emergency food for people in crisis or trapped in poverty. The charity is part of Trussell and visitors need a referral voucher to receive food.
If you need emergency food, please call call Help through Hardship on 0808 2082138. The line is staffed by Citizens Advice, whose friendly advisers can help you access the support you need - that may include issuing a referral voucher to Hackney Foodbank.

Our distribution centres are in Dalston, Stoke Newington, Hoxton, Upper Clapton and Haggerston – we’re open six days a week.

What a day! 💚

Our heartfelt thanks go to everyone who came and showed some love at our Open Day. The day was filled with games and activities for families, warehouse tours, our first community supermarket sweep and lots of delicious treats kindly donated by , .london, and . We loved meeting our supporters and members of our community to give people a behind-the-scenes look at what we do. Thank you to everyone involved and for making it such a lovely day!

Jonathan has dedicated 5 years to volunteering with Hackney Foodbank - he helps here in the warehouse packing emergency food parcels and often staffs our reception. He has completed over 200 hours this year, and more than 500 over the five years he’s been with us. He’s an absolute gem and we love having him here!

Jonathan can often be heard to proclaim: “everything’s nice and crispy!” and, with his support, it really is!

Nobody should have to choose between paying the rent and buying food.
But food banks are seeing more people forced to make exactly that choice as housing support falls behind rising rents.
This autumn, the Prime Minister can act.
That’s why we signed an open letter to him, asking that he reconnect housing support with local rents.

Meet Fergus our furry food bank friend! Judging by the reaction of our staff, the kids might face some competition this weekend! We would love you to join us for our Open Day this Saturday (10am-3pm) to get a flavour of how your kindness is helping change lives in Hackney. You can have a go at packing an emergency food parcel, join our Supermarket Sweep (pre-booking essential), meet the team, enjoy delicious food and drinks from Finks, E5 Bakehouse, Willy's Pies and Dalston's Soda and there are lovely activities for the kids (bouncy castle, crafts, beanbag throwing and more). Please join us at the Wally Foster Community centre on Homerton Road, E9 5QB. And please help spread the word!

We would love to invite you to Hackney Foodbank’s first ever Open Day this Saturday (September 26th). Come along to our Homerton warehouse and see first-hand the difference your support is making. You can help pack an emergency food parcel and meet some of the team working to end hunger in Hackney.

We'll have cakes and cookies from the fabulous Finks, soft drinks from Dalston's Soda and delicious pies from Willy's Pies. Plus family-friendly games and a bouncy castle.

The event is free and takes place at the Wally Foster Community Centre, Homerton Road, E9 5QB. There's no parking but we have bike racks, there's a bus stop (Adley St) right outside or we're a short walk from Homerton Overground station. Donations of non-perishable food are welcome!

There's also still time to book a team to take part in our fabulous Supermarket Sweep that day! Message me for more details.

Another special shout-out to the brilliant team, with 18 people taking on the 55-mile challenge from London to Brighton on Sunday as part of our multi-year partnership.

There were nerves, excitement and plenty of moral support along the way, with a very special furry friend joined for the ride! We’re so grateful for their continued commitment, turning miles into emergency meals through this challenge. Huge thanks to the team for playing such a big part to help end hunger and hardship in Hackney.💚
